While everyone was getting obsessive about gas-electric hybrids, Honda's been working quietly in the corner, making world's first production hydrogen car. We've seen this car in two concept forms. Now. It's ready for consumption.

Honda plans to build 200 units over 3 years. They will be available on a 3 year lease, for $600 per month. Which is $21,600 total. Which is about how much a 4-cylinder Toyota Camry costs.

Sounds too good to be true? It is. Unless you live close to a hydrogen fuelling station, this car is worthless.

This isn't the first hydrogen car Honda's leased to people. The early FCX's which were like tiny econoboxes were lent to celebrities and such for unmentionable prices.

Anyways Jamie Lee Curtis and her Spinal Tap guitarist husband will be the first ones to get the FCX Clarity.

They can make cars that run on oxygen as far as i care.. BUT what about the materials used on the car.. the PLANT that makes the car... unless all that stuff is eco friendly then its a load of crock... NOT to mention the method used to transport these cars. Like i said until all these cars are manafactured in to ECO friendly way, they are still as bad as my wrx and rc45 corvette !

I've yet to hear of any commercial hydrogen stations built in the U.S. I heard of ambitious plans to make hydrogen stations powered by solar and water sources.

Other than that, the test island off the coast of Japan for Honda's program to make a self contained community of hydrogen using cars with water based power stations is all I've heard of in the effort.

Also this, but nothing has come of it. (GM, powered by something other than gas, go figure)

There's a couple in Los Angeles, that's why they had the launch there.
