The Canon 17-85mm IS is a great walk about lens but the quality is lacking.
Image quality is good enough for holiday snaps, street photos etc and it's quite cheap. So overall not a bad lens but don't expect amazingly sharp photos.
Dude, I bet stepping up from the ultra crappy 18-55 sock lense to the 17-85 IS is still quite impressive
