router problem
i have this problem for a while now, basically, my ISP, which is Rogers, change my IP very very very often, and my router somehow's not picking it up, and i have 2 other computer hook up to it but they work fine, just this main computer never get the IP automatically, i've already set it up to Dynamic IP, but i have to manually get the new ip, myself .
my router is a D-Link DI-604.

No, thamar meant setting the PCs on your LAN to use static IP. The router will get the dynamic IP from your ISP for your *external* IP.

type [b]IPCONFIG /all[b] in command prompt
goto Control Panel > Network and ... > Local Area Connection > Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties
Select "Using the Following IP" and enter all the info. Click OK and reboot.
Good luck!

Okay... question, what do you mean by "manually get the new ip" exactly?

Sounds like there's some problem with Rogers. You should call their support and tell them.
The way Rogers works is that ur cable modem will check the MAC address of your NIC (in ur case the router uplink), then it will assign an IP based on that MAC address. So there might be a same MAC address in your area, and that you are always trying to lease an IP that someone else already have, so instead, u grab a new one...that's y it keep changing.
What you can try is, try put in a different MAC address for the router.

well, it sound like your problem is related to a dynamic ip... (or static... i can never remember which is which)
and you can configure your router to adjust with that in its command interface
you can goto it in IE by going to 192.168.1.1 and loging in... usually no username, and admin for pasword by default, depending on the make.
options should be in there under ip i think...
