mrmojo, im slightly confused at to what you are saying... that TG is great? or that it isnt (since Sabine on her first shot out hit a 9:17 or so)... and i havent seen the A8 video i dont think...

i know i think the TG and 5th gear reviews are great!

Jeremy Clarkson drove a Jaguar S-Type 2.7 diesel around the ring in 9:59 min, then Sabine drove the car and it took her 9:12 min.

I was really blown away with that episode. I thought the part about the ring was the best top gear program I have ever seen. I was really starting to feel bad for him when he was struggling so hard, and when he hit 1 second under 10 minutes, I was almost as excited for him as he was.

I just really loved that segment

I'm looking forward to seeing this vid too and watching Sabine haul ass around the 'ring.

I'm saying little bit of both. TopGear just seems almost too good to be true. They seem to always get to their targets in different situations, so either they sometimes twist the truth a little and don't show everything on the video, or they are just pure pros. Probably it's the last option. I liked the Jaguar video very much and have liked every TG video, but there's just a big skeptic in me always saying, that "what if"

Sabine basically grew up on the 'Ring. No wonder she put out such an amazing time. :roll:

As for Jeremy putting out a 9.59...It seems believable. But, like someone said above, maybe they do change the goals in the process.

Yep, those are the ones that strike me as possibly being staged. But then ive seen very close laptimes for those respective 'face-offs' in mags...

Yeah, sometimes it can seem a bit staged. Its weird, cuz there is stuff that is too close to be true, yet at the same time they have no reason to lie. I dunno, its hard to tell.

Sure there is, it makes better telly. Clarkson saying "this is the best car ive ever driven" every other episode, equal lap times, bumping up cars' stats to give them a more spectacular intro (f40 a few weeks ago) etc
