Yes stock cars are very fast... but in comparison with cars which are engineered strictly for road racing in mind...

And one of these on the 'Ring? The 800hp would only be used on the last straight.

Considering that I've been in a few cars 800 hp + .... 800 HP is usable more then just in the last straight... yes, you have to break earlier, yes you have to have a better right foot to keep the ass from swinging out...

Additionally, for 50-80k, I don't believe for one second that there is a 800 hp engine under the hood.... 400-600 supercharged.... perhaps.

Yeah. They probably won't have the racing engine. Impractical and costly.

They do have road cource races in NASCAR, you know. They don't go straight off at every corner as you'd expect.

But yeah. They're a lot slower than they are on banked ovals.
