(before disqualifications)

Williams and Toyota have been disqualified from the Canadian Grand Prix after checks on their brake ducts produced irregularities.

An FIA spokeswoman confirmed: "The two Toyotas and two Williams have been excluded."

The disqualifications cause havoc with the race result. Williams' Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya had finished second and fifth in the race while Toyota's Cristiano da Matta was eighth.

The stewards' action promotes Jenson Button to third place. That means he has taken six podiums in eight races this season.

Giancarlo Fisichella moves up to fourth place, with McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard are promoted to fifth and sixth.

Germany's Timo Glock becomes one of the few drivers to have scored points on his F1 debut with seventh place while team-mate Nick Heidfeld takes eighth.

Williams technical director Sam Michael confirmed the team would not appeal.

He admitted: "The front brake ducts of Ralf and Juan Pablo's cars are not in accordance with the regulations.

"There was no performance gain and no gain for brake cooling because the inlet area was not bigger. However the ducts are not in compliance with the technical regulations. Therefore we accept the FIA's decision."

Canada is notoriously hard on brakes and teams are often forced to take special measures for the race. The FIA confirmed Williams and Toyota's brake ducts had exceeded dimensional regulations.

Thats got to be pretty dang annoying being on one of those teams...especially if you are ralf...after all of the controversy about him causing wrecks..then to finish second..only a second behind his brother ..and then get disqualified because of some technical rule..that sucks
