Euhm, is my english so bad or do you need to read that again (no offence ment)
if he says it's not impossible, he means it is possible that the AMV8 ran a 2 seconds faster lap then the GT3...
|
excatly, that what I meant, you and me aren't even from the states but you understood me but not the houston guy.
and if you guys understand this
GT3 will kill AM on a smaller tracks with more curves.

IMO because of norcshleifes ludicrisly long straight the difference in horsepower will mean that the AM could catch the porche there

Yes the Porsche may be faster on a track with tighter corners and shorter straights, but will the owners of their brand new 911 be able to say "Shall we take the Aston?"

Arent we jumping the gun here? Its a prototype, so the spec hasnt been finalised yet. What about the R33 skyline that lapped in under 8 mins? It was a prototype as well. Just shows what some suspension tuning and added power can do in a car that is heavier and less powerful than the 911.
The REAL test is what the finished item can achieve. And you can't tell me that a stock, off the rack R33 could achieve sub 8 mins at the 'ring. Im guessing it will be the same for the AMV8.

The R33 runs stock about 8.25-8.30 on the 'Ring.

lol, the Carrera GT prototype had something around 1200kg so ~200 lighter than the production version - so it clocked a 7:32 yesterday with HvS ..... so, what would it clock with 200kg´s off
seriously, i´m definitely not the "Porsche is everything on NS" guy, no discussion, NS is definitely a very very good Porsche ground, but a sub 8 for the AMV8 - well, not very likely IMO...
with something around 370-380hp for the AMV8, so more or less same hp figure as the GT3 --- and it should be faster....!!!???
faster than a track oriented car with almost zero comfort, stripped out... against the state of the art equipped Aston, the AMV8 will be way heavier than the GT3 so how could it clock a sub 8 then....maybe they´ve found the magic tyre!???....who knows....
and didn´t the Gallardo clock a 7:52 --- with 500hp....
i think we should wait and see, e.g. for a Supertest with HvS and then talk - nevertheless, i´d love to see the Aston performing well, but sorry, a sub 8 is quite optimistic IMO...

Exactly. Yet the prototype did a sub 8 minute run.
So with the AMV8 we should wait and see. Just because the test car can do it, doesnt mean the finished item can.
It will certainly be interesting to see.
Does anyone know if there has been a supertest of the DB9?

the test has been made two days ago at NS...
besides, on the same day there had been a test of a MTM RS6 and the second test of the Carrera GT...
they´ll appear in the mag sometime in winter i guess...

The whole idea of the V8 Vantage was to have somthing to rival the 911's. The factory has never said it will ONLY rival the base 911. They're the worlds fastest growing car company and it only makes sense to have this car competing at different levels. This car has so much potential, as do the DB9 and the Vanquish. It would be foolish not to take advantage of at least a little bit of that (no pun intended).
I don't really care how fast the car is, even though I'm an Aston fanatic, because I know that it looks better and has more class than any porche ever could and thats what Aston Martin intends. They know they're in a class of their own and thats exactly where they intend to stay.

wow...7 and 50 seconds at house at nurburgring is awesome man....must be very fast at acceleration and mainly at handling cause those corners are very bumpy and tricky...good car overall
