Default thunderous 07 cobra, a few new details/ SVT Ranger

this last week marked a huge step in the progression of the new cobra's development. the first test mule was built, engine, drive train... all the nessesary components to begin real progress.

one interesting fact you wont read anywhere else (yet anyway) is its doors are welded shut for tests in body regidity, and chassis flex etc. i suspect soon she will be on the proving grounds in dearborn... i hope to drive down there this week and catch a gimps... who knows, i just might get a wee bit lucky on that.

this has never been done on any prevous pre-production mules in Mustang, or Ford's entire history. i may read into this too much... but perhaps we will have a good handler as well. hopefully the delays, and communication problems in the group are worked out soon... otherwise we may have to waite a few months longer before we see a purchasable cobra.

a 'one-off' SVT vehicle was seen in and around Dearborn this week, touted the 'baby lightning... which is anything but in terms of performance. yet again, a huge engine, and a lighter weight truck would prove to be a absolutely posposterous calamaty of fun. there are no plans to further develop the car... it is likely, however the car will likely be displayed at SEMA later this week... with a car that is toutable as a ford racing catalugue parts vehicle... which Ford hinted at in a recent interview with a local paper touted 'car country' "performance cars have traditionally been largely trucks, although we have seen a shift of that in recent years, we think it is heading that way once again"

I have an article that was in one of my Mustang magazines on the Ranger SVT. The power output from the Cobra supercharged engine was the same as a stock '03/04 Cobra. The biggest hurdle with that swap I believe was that they had to set the engine farther back towards the firewall and I think the intake pipe was still bent in a sharp curve in order for it to work.

Many pilots of the time were the opinion that a fighter pilot in a closed cockpit was an impossible thing, because you should smell the enemy. You could smell them because of the oil they were burning.
