It was a bit of a surprise for me too...it's normally not this far South, I'm at about 42degrees of latitude...it usually doesn't appear until at least 45 degrees. Anyway it was beautiful and incredible to see...flickers and flashes from East to West all the way across the sky...and then the more steady stuff on the Northern horizon really bright and beautiful. I tried to take some video too, but my camera isn't very good for nighttime vids...I basically just ended up with a bunch of black and people talking in the background.

Sorry about the blurriness of some of the pics
|
If your camera has a time delay ( eg. 2 or 10 seconds), use it. The pics are blurry because you shake the camera/tripod when you release the shutter.
But damn nice pics of the Northern Lights anyway! 8)

I was using the time delay at the beginning, but the more spectacular it got the less I wanted to miss it, so I was taking as many pictures in rapid succession as I could. Most of them came out pretty well actually with a minimum of blurriness, so I'm not too disappointed hehe.

Well...keep your fingers crossed guys...my astrophysics buddies here at Umich tell me that the lights should be on tonight and tomorrow as well...I'll see if I can't get some more good pics this evening (homework has to come first, but we'll see hehe)

I see it all the way down here!
It was pretty damn cool, but the pics they showed on the news were far better than what I saw!
