I downloaded the previous version to see whether it could play my Divx files better, but instead I can't see any Divx files anymore. The sound is fucked up and all I see is green stripes. I hope this new one cures that.

because some files are coded in XviD instead, or SVCD made, or .OGG

I think the best answer is:

1) Dlowload divx (latest version) www.divx.com
2) Download dvix 3.11 (old but important version) http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html
3) Dowload xvid http://nic.dnsalias.com/xvid.html
4) Dowlod AC3filter (new version out) http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/


Ok these files should allow you to play the .avi .wmv .mpeg and other such files encoded with those codecs. It will NOT let you play SVCD's or VCD's. No codec will allow you to do so. SVCD and VCD are rips from DVD that are playable in some DVD players. To play those files, you should dlownload VLC Player. This player is guaranteed to play ANY file you did not manage to play with the codecs above, and .ogg files and VCD's and SVCD's.

This player looks simple, but is the most powerful player so far. It can not only play DVD's VCD's SVCD's and all those regular window files (exept for .mov i think but you have quick time for that), but it can also play SUBTITLES. Download this player PLEEASEEEE I cant enfasize this enough. This player will solve all your problems. If you cannot play a video with this player, PM me and I will be glad to PERSONALLY assist you. That is how confident I am about VLC Player.

the codec paackage comes with a player that in my opion is better then vlc does all the same and more and it give u gspot a codec reader to tell u what codecs u need if u dont have
