I'm glad the Silver Arrows(Mercedes) from the 55s came first, although this was the year and car that Mercedes had this terrible accident that cost the life of several people and as result made them leave from F1 for more than 30 years.!

Great scans, I loved it. If it were up to me though, the Ferrari 412 T1 from 1994 should have been in the list. IMHO that is the best looking modern F1 car. I think I also would have swapped the 1st and 10th placed cars.

Well going buy the jury, they were more interested in the pic than the look of the cars. Since a nice read.

Looking at those scans, it's interesting to see how the shapes have developed between square and curved. Looking at the last 15 years, the first few curves on the "modern" formula one shape started in the late 80s and early 90s (Ferrari 641 for example). Since then more and more areas of the cars are getting more and more curvaceous - Renault took a leap two years ago with those great swept sidepods, which looked fantastic.

And now, as the pictures come out of the new cars for this year, more and more curves are being included and teams seem to be following Renault's lead with the curved 'pods. And look at some of the modern front wings - they're getting insane...This is obviously the result of better understanding of complex aerodynamics and better testing facilites, but it also looks ace.

I happen to think that modern F1 cars look incredible, but I know there are many who would disagree. What so people think?

thanx dude... great read!

was watching a documentary the other day... where they were showing Fangio racing that Mercedez W196... F1 looked more fun to watch then! modern F1 racing's quite safe but boring.

thanks for that..great article. Cars from the past still look the best. But i think todays modern f1 still look great but with all the safety regulations, they dont have that much personality anymore.
