Visited my Mobile service provider today and look what I found for their newest feature.

How many times have you found yourself in an embarrassing situation or on a boring date, wishing for an urgent call to whisk you away? Fido to the rescue! Our Saved by the call! service provides that important call when you need it most. Just call us in advance with the date and time, and we'll do the rest! Saved by the call! has plenty of excuses in its bag! And if you’re really stuck, call Panic button (#22) and get your call within seconds.

How to use Saved by the call!
Call #RING (#7464) on your Fido.
Press 2 for service in English.
Select the Saved by the call! service by pressing 1.
Use the keypad to enter the date and time you'd like to receive the call.
Then, simply hang up. You'll receive your call as scheduled. Just pretend to have a conversation and you'll be on your way!

How to use Panic Button
1. Call #22 on your Fido.
2. Your work is done! We'll even hang up for you.
3. You'll receive your Saved by the call! within seconds.

Only 50¢ per call.

interesting, could be useful in some situations i suppose, the only problem is "pretending" to have a conversation. im not a very good actress, so maybe someone else could, but my "pretend" convo would sound suspiciously fake.

50cents for a peace of mind sound like a pretty good deal in some situation, but u can always make the phone ring by urself or ask a friend =P~

what? retarded. Just have a friend call you. now this might be useful if you don't have friends...but then if you don't have any friends, i bet a boring conversation is better then no conversation at all.

I've heard of similar services to this over here. The difference being that it prompts you to speak, and tells you what to say, e.g. Grandma?, Which hospital... you get the general idea.
