Putting your knee down really has nothing to do with how fast you are going. You could put your knee down doing circles in a parking lot if you really wanted to. Many times putting a knee down is more about style than anything else. Yes, you will/should have your body shifted over, and in many cases your leg will be out to some degree, but it isn't really necessary to have a knee on the ground. Many attribute a knee on the ground as meaning the rider is really fast and very skilled. That is not always the case. Just wanted to point that out.
