Yeah...and let me tell you, the RX8 with Bridgestone Potenzas...really not a very good car in the winter. Not much ground clearance, and practically zero grip, but for some reason which is totally beyond me, my dad is refusing to buy snow tires for the car...

I just got a set of Goodyear Assurance with the triple tread technology last week. Not strictly snow tires but a step up from my dunlops on the front and some other brand on the back. Retailer said they were the last set in America everyone else has them on back order. Although they are just a bit louder than the older ones, but more grip for sure so I'm happy.
You can check them out here http://www.goodyearassurance.com/

Luckily I don't have to use snow tires. It's very strange that snows in my region. It's not rare that it doesn't snow for three or four years so snow tires in Girona is absolutely useless.

I usually do, but not when they are stored 400 km away and I have no time to go there and change wheels still on summer tires, but will swap at Xmas

If or when it does snow in Vancouver, the average speed approaches negative with people sliding backwards downhill

I use winter tyres...it just additional security. It happens on occasion that several places where I drive in Poland are completely covered in slush, there's no use trying to go there with summer tyres.
Also, I sympathize with 5vz-fe. It does seem that as soon as a little snow falls, everyone forgets how to drive

And what they do 400 km away from your car? It's a hobby to have your tires scattered along switzerland?
