The only M3 that seats 4 is the E36 sedan. The E46 seats 2 adults and a pair of midgets.

My buddy has an 02 E46 and I fit in the back pretty good, am I 6'3"

I like the used E39 idea though, always loved the m5.

if u are worried about resale value, than it seems the M3 would be your best bet since it wont depreciate as much as the GTO or CTS V would... and for me that would have to be my pick of the lot, even though it is at the top end of your spending limit
