The 599 just loks to clumsy.
The F550/F575 is the ultimate Ferrari GT silohette. It cannot be improved upon, and the clumsy awkward look of the 599 proves this
Just like the 360/430 destroyed the perfect lines of the F355 - so does the 599 play far to much into the hands of the posers and Starbucks crowd.
The performance may be there, but the style is bybe-bye
|
You know what?... you are completely right! I mean I do think the 599 is absoluitely gorgeous but compared to the 550/575 it's on a lower level...
And the 355 vs 360/430....I couldn't have said it better...

I'll have to disagree with you both then. Although I do agree that the 575M was an absolutely stunning car, I don't think this was meant to be a successor in the design sense. The 599 looks like a futuristic muscle car, which it is.
And if great car design is being able to clearly display your intent and purpose, then this one gets full marks.

The 599 looks nothing like a muscle car.
The poofta headlights and the goofy rear end just look like too many ideas all lumped together - reminds me a lot of the Enzo in that sense.. they seemed to be have drawn some great bits... then could not figure out how to pull them all together, so they just took a ruler and made some lines..

I HATE how so many see the 360 as ruining the line of the 355. In terms of the way a Ferrari looks, the 355 stood with cars such as the 348, but abandoned the smooth, flowing CURVES of all the Ferrari's before it, especially the gorgoeous 308. As nice as the 355 is, its dated and flat, the 360 has the absolute perfect proportions, and stands out, to me at least, as most likely the best looking V8 they have made, and judging by the 430, are liekly ever to make.
As well, these new Ferraris are not cars that a picture is able to properly show. THe curves, radii, the way lines flow into eachother are only seen when seen in person. A static picture will never truly express lines that are designed for being seen in person, absorbed fully and seeing the integration of all the various lines. As an example, i took some friends to the dealer by my place, and all of them found that seeing an enzo in person makes it a MUCH better looking car. And anyone whos seen a 550 in person will be lying if they say that a picture is able to capture its proportions and style to even a tenth of a degree.

Well, it reminds me of a very futuristic Shelby Cobra GT. Long bonnet, abrupt rear end, pronounced arches, and a very prominent hip design.
...and here we are thinking that flame surfacing was polarizing.

How about we reserve our final judgements until we see one in the flesh

The 612 is ugly in person or in picture.
The 550/575 is beautful in picture or in the flesh.

My friend, you thinking a car is ugly or not is a matter of personal preferences, but calling the 599 a "ghay poser car" is completely wrong. This car has class and sophistication.
But then again, this is coming from a guy that worships the king of all poser cars: Corvette.

Lambos are designed for the starbucks crowd, not Ferraris.
I suppose you think you're the only person around here that drives
EDIT: Whats the time over there in Houston?

Lambos are for drivers.
I am not the only driver on JW - but none of us drivers are fanboys

I too agree that the Maranello looks better. It doesnt look like a 4 seater, its just an amazing design. This 599 has a face like a smiling ninja turtle and with all those holes everywhere, looks overdone. Maranello was much nicer IMO.
