Same engine, but around 50 kg less weight thanks to some carbon fiber there, lightweight acrylic instead of glass and so on

Aha, cool cool I must admit I haven't read any articles the past week. Haven't found the time. But I'll make the time for that one because I was waiting for something about the RS.

the 2004 RS should be the base of the successor of today`s international GT cup GT3.
the power to weight ratio is 4.86kg/kw wich is four percent better than the p.t.w.r. of the GT3 clubsport. although the DIN weight of the RS is only ~1350kg a Ferrari CS has a DIN weight of 1280kg, but Porsche advises not to take the optional A/C because without it the car is 20-30kg lighter. also the optional xenon headlights are not that good for ppl who`d like to drive it on the track only, because due to accidents or little stones on the track they might get damaged and to change them is quite expensive. not many ppl are going to install PCCBs because when racing only on tracks the wear rate of the pads is quite high, and just look at the Cup GT3`s. no PCCBs at all, although they`d be a lot lighter. the 2004 RS is delivered with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires as standard equipment, so on the one hand very high gs can be achieved ( e.g. 1.4gs with a M3 CSL ) but on the other hand again a high wear rate of the tyres.
the street version features some details which are exactely the same as in the upcomming race version, like the complete wheel carriers, shared transversal axis at front and rear axis, enhanced chassis geometry, rear window made of acryl, bonnet and rear wing made of carbon, also the connection between engine and gearbox takes place over a one-mass flywheel which has a smaller rotation mass than a two-mass flywheel.
the engine is nearly the same as in the GT3, the redline is at 8200rpm, it has a hp / Liter ratio of 105.83 hp, which is the same as in the GT3 but a special air collector under the rear wing provides more air to the engine, so that it can provide better power at high speeds. concerning speed, the RS is a bit cross-wind susceptibly at speeds over 155mph. 0-124mph: ~14sec. the handling is quite different between full and empty tank, so to sum it all up the overall handling is really compareable with a Cup race GT3. but it`s also driveable in everydays life, not just like the 964RS which carries the slogan: on the track unbeatable, on the way to the track undriveable...
if you have any questions left, don`t hesitate to ask....

- Supervisory Board meeting -
Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany, turned in the highest profit ever recorded in its corporate history during the 2002/03 fiscal year, which closed on July 31. Despite the difficult economic climate and the substantial costs incurred for the start of Cayenne production and this model’s worldwide market introduction, the company’s results went up noticeably compared with the previous fiscal year. At today’s meeting of the Supervisory Board the Group’s pre-tax result of 933.0 million Euro was confirmed: it exceeds the previous fiscal year’s result of 828.9 million Euro by 12.6 percent. It proved possible to increase the Group’s surplus for the fiscal year (the after-tax result) by 22.3 percent to 565.0 million Euro compared with 462.0 million Euro for the previous year.
At 1.042 billion Euro, Porsche AG exceeded the previous year's pre-tax result of 823.0 million Euro by 26.6 percent. Due to substantial payments from Porsche Group subsidiaries and the need to build up Cayenne vehicle stocks within the Group, the company’s results were higher than Group results. The annual surplus rose by 27.4 percent to 660.0 million Euro, compared with 518.0 million Euro in the previous year.
The shareholders’ general meeting on January 23, 2004 will be asked to approve the payment to common-stock holders of a dividend of 3.34 Euro per share for the 2002/03 fiscal year. Preferred shareholders will receive a dividend of 3.40 Euro. The sum of approx. 59.0 million Euro distributed as dividends will then exceed the previous year’s basic dividend figure (some 52 million Euro) by 13.5 percent. For the 2000/01 fiscal year – in addition to a once-only extraordinary dividend of 14 Euro – basic dividends of 2.94 Euro per share of common stock and 3.0 Euro per share of preferred stock were paid. The shareholder’s general meeting will be asked to agree that the remaining net earnings for 2002/03 of approximately 271 million Euro should be allocated to retained earnings.
Thanks to its new model, the Cayenne, the company succeeded in substantially expanding its business. Group sales rose by 23.2 percent to 66,803 units and turnover by 14.9 percent to 5.58 billion Euro. Porsche’s outlook for the current 2003/04 fiscal year is again optimistic. Additional model versions, including the 911 Carrera 4S convertible, the 911 Turbo convertible, the GT3 RS and the special “40th Anniversary of the 911” edition, are expected to give new stimulus to the 911 model line. The upper end of the model program is completed by the new Carrera GT high-performance sports car. The Cayenne model line in particular, to which a six-cylinder version has been added, will contribute further to the growth of Porsche sales and turnover. In addition the company expects to maintain its high level of earnings.

- CGT offers best automotive innovation of the year -
the new Porsche Carrera GT does not hit the streets of the United States until december, yet this high-performance sports car is already winning prizes in the USA. In its “best of what’s new” awards, the magazine “Popular Science” has given the 612 hp, 205mph Porsche the “Grand Prize” in the “Cars” category.
critical acclaim as best innovation of the year went to the chassis of this supercar. for the first time ever, either in a production vehicle or racing car, both the CGT’s monocoque and engine carrier are made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
“we award the “best of what’s new” prize after a full year of testing and evaluating a wide range of products and solutions”, explained Scott Mowbray, editor-in-chief at “Popular Science” magazine. “all of these innovations change our daily life – both our working life and our leisure time.”
‘Popular Science’ reports on innovative technologies and their practical impact. with circulation of around 1.4 million, it is one of the USA’s most widely read technical magazines.

Great, the Carrera GT is great. I used to think that the Enzo would be of another league, but it seems the CGT is better that I thought! Impressive the ISO-Evasion test, 12mph faster than the Zonda!
Thanks for the infos st-anger, you're a gold mine, and thank you because now I'm loving more and more Porsches

i´m glad you guys like the "Porsche news" and especially Porsche itself, i can only speak for myself but IMO Porsche is the best sports car manufacturer in existance and this hasn`t only been approved in the past, nowadays the CGT is the best example for that.
 btw, tomorrow i´ll fly to Stuttgart to the Porsche HQ for a business meeting about my change of employment, i´m really looking forward to that
on the other hand on dec 18th will be my last day at Bosch , at monday the guy who replaces me there will show up and i have to introduce him to everything on monday/tuesday...
altough it`s been kinda boring there in comparison to Magna or Weissach i´ll miss my colleagues VERY VERY much, they all`ve been so cool...
