I dont think the there is such a short supply of PS3's as there was with 360's. Also the Xbox360 was the first taste of next-gen, and graphic wise the PS3 aint really anything better than the 360. Xbox360 will always be a generation ahead in game development aswell, so will we ever see the PS3 really overcome in terms of graphics? If not then why get s PS3?
Blueray?
Dont go waste your money is all I have to say. Check www.gametrailers.com and just take alook at the prerendered videos sony said the PS3 could do, compared to the actual gameplay. They fell short to say the least.
When there cheap enough tho, I might get one for there exclusive games like gran turismo and MGS4.

And now, gran turismo HD has been cancelled so they "work on GT5" whats next? F1 game cancell too?

What do you expect? This is the first generation game for PS3 verse a second generation game for the Xbox, of course it will have better graphics.
It will probably take another 3 to 4 years until they could full extract the power of the PS3, maybe even longer. I don't seem them equaling Xbox's graphics at least for another 2 years because many developers are saying that programing for the Cell Chip is extremely difficult.

So the question is... Will the quality of games ever surpass the Xbox360? the 360 will always be a generation ahead development wise, and the Cell is a bastard to work with. So PS3 does not have the graphical edge, and the Xbox360 is alot cheaper. GTHD is over now, but its not completely dead. Its now called Gran turismo HD concept, basically a higher grade GT4. Which ever console comes out on top is still unknown, but whatever the result I think PS3 failed with planning and design of the PS3.

Correct. . . in the end, I think the PS3 will still have enough power and developer's backing to overtake both in terms of sales and better games than the Xbox.
Like I said, I think it will definitely take longer to extract the full power of the PS3.
Plus most importantly, the developers are still beting on the PS3. But will Cell be so hard to work with that, people will just give up? Like GTHD?
I am really waiting for GT5 and MGS4, and those will probably be at least 2 years away.

ha.. ps3 launch titles are jokes
i can get all the games from xbox
and many of the games, the graphic is not as good as xbox360 and has alot more bugs
well, as rite now. the price on ebay is around 800-900cdn for the 60gb version
and u know what sucks.i was debating if i should keep it, and i decided not 2, because blue ray dvd is going down the toilet.
it is not as widly supported by movie studio, and the image quality is not as good

The cell chip sure is some interesting technology. IBM now has a super computer based off it that is currently the fastest in the world. Cool stuff.
I don't know if I'd have the negative reaction to turn around time that certain people above do about graphics. I'd bet more likely they will have rival graphics within a few months if the ps2 is any reference (they said the same thing about the ps2).
Then again I'm sitting out this round of consoles, at least until I see which new gen dvd player is crowned king of the mountain. I've shifted to casual gaming from hardcore, and once you do that you tend to never go back.
Still I wish Id stood in line for a ps3 for the profit

Laugh it up
Not everyone here comes from a wealthy connected family in a corruptly governed country..
Just remember, all eyes are on you now.. if you become a no-one has-been at the back of the grid when ever you race, everyone will know you only got to the starting grid because of money and connections and not talent - and the same goes for the podium finish
So if anything, the pressure is on you - not the "video game" players

You'll be back in about 8 years or so - with a lot more disposable income and then it's fun to have the budget.

I can't imagine that many of the sales actually went through.
Think about it, if you have $5,000 spare to piss away on a PS3 you would have other conneciotns and abilites to pick one up on launch day.
As well as the fact it you did have $5,000 to piss away on a PS3 that would make you fairly adept at money management which would mean you wouldn't throw money awya on a console at 10x its value.. but simply wait till the price came down.
$1000 is probably the highest any one would pay.. and even then i can't imagine why
Unless all the millionaires lines up to buy their PS3's from speculators on eBay. - and again I cant imagine why, but I have been know to be worng before.

It is definitely an AWESOME chip, but how hard will you have to work to program for it. Sony has commited to make better and easiler compliers, so hopefully developers could take advantage of it.

from what I read BTW, GTHD is not a game, its whatever work they have done so far demo. It will b dloadable from the japanese PS3 store and USA might not get it. So no game till GT5, HD is free and for people to test it i guess. www.gamespot.com go read it there.

Multi threading of that type is never easy. The part that is difficult is programming so there is no master scheduler processor, the way the cell processor works that is a bit rare in programming (multi scheduling in addition to multi processing). It isn't entirely new though. It also will be solved soon enough.
