this could be true, but i doubt bmw would change the gearing on these cars. Anyone know if the Sport package cars will get a bump in horsepower like the current 3 series cars? with the ZHP option or something like that.

even when I don't like the car at all, finally it gets a good engine. My guess it's gonna be the I6 from the 3 series.
now your guesses for the price... the posh version is 30000 pounds, and this will be... at least 35000

I am still amazed that the new 3.0L engine could produce 260hp. That is very very impressive.
Like other's said, I think once the M3 moves up to the V8, that would make room for an I6 M engine.
But what are they gonna call it? They can't call it M1.

maybe they wont make an M version of the 1 series. maybe, they would transform the 2 series coupe, thus, the M2. just a thought.

Looking forward to the M version to be honest. Rumoured to be getting the e46 M3 engine. Should be awesome.
|
If it comes, it surely will get an I6 but a one derived from the M5's V10.
|
I doubt it, a V10 doesn't lends itself to being modified to a I6.
And the extremely good e46 I6 engine will be going spare once the M3 has the V8.
|
Well, I heard the e46 engine was way too expensive to be used in the M1 whereas the I6 derived from the V10 is said to be significantly cheaper.

I don't like the look of the car - ugly front. It must be 3-door. I've sit in it and when I adjust the seat according to me (I am 178) there's only 10cm between the front and back seat, so what's the point the point to be 5-door when it's definitely a car for 2 people. Also if it was 3-door it would look better. I like Coupé's - big doors, easy to enter and exit, without frame of the window... perfect.

Firstly the car must be very exciting to drive because of its quite short wheelbase, the rear wheel drive condition, the 260bhp and the usual BMW Motorsports good work in terms of suspension, brake´s settings and so on.......and it will be a very great car to consider although Opel will launch a turbocharged 260 bhp version of the astra, the Golf GTI is a very successful car, and ford will surprise ourselves with the new focus RS for sure......however i think that the car will be quite overprived as the Motorsport versions are and the 1 series is....and the shape looks so so IMO

Where is the 1 series to be launched? i haven't heard anything about it except for what has been mentioned here on JW. It's funny the the DIS/GT1 diag. software that BMW uses has the 1 series listed (E87 i believe) and it's been on there for nearly a year now, yet no release date for the US
