Bizarre, I never saw this video and indeed it's pretty weird to see a Formula 1 driver (working for McLaren back then), talking about turbo while driving the F1

I have no real respect for drivers who go by feel and need their engineer to tell them how to drive when something happens.
Technical knoledge is a great bonus, if you understand what the car is doing you can do much more then just drive by feel.

there are many good drivers that known how to set up their car.
and many that don't
one of them being Jacques Villeneuve, sorry, why do you think he was doing so well when his team mate set up the car?
Mika is on this list also Coulthard did alot of the tech work, hence why Coulthard is such a big help to team (not for his err.. driving) but his knowledge redbull is prob really happy that David could help out their younger drivers.

Suppose its true if you know exactly how the car is responding techincally to your every input on the track, then you are in another level in terms of car 'feel'.

Yeah, but it must be hard as hell not to switch into technician mode while concentrating at 187MPH coming up on a 50MPH corner.
I know i wouldn't be able to do it. I can't ride in my friends cars without trying to locate the source of the rattles in them
