A lightweight, more powerful version of the Veyron is confirmed directly by Bugatti's chief and is to be called "Supersport" or SS, just like in case of the EB110. The final specification will depend on how the main rivals will perform. We might expect around 1200hp, or even 1400hp, at best.

Well, honestly, I'm not sure about the power hike, but a lightened version is set to come. The question is when...

And as for the power a slightly more powerful version of the Veyron has been rumoured from the very beginning, and since veyron is said to put out nearly 1100hp under perfect conditions (also depends on the particular product) adding 100hp would not be such a problem considering they have about 3 years or more to develop/tweak it as I don´t expect this version to come before 2008.

It would also be a "reasonable" counteraction to 9ff, F60, MF1 etc.

And everso, you're starting to get on my nerves with statements like "lol, not true". Despite your well proven reliable source, you have to admit that one never knows especially in terms of Bugatti, as the their executives seem to be crazy enough to do anything to make or keep the Veyron the fastest.

I'm sorry if these rumours I posted to this thread which is really filled with them bother you in any way but I find it fun to speculate.

So you know, they have spent SO MUCH time trying to make the Veyron "light"...but this is as light as it can get.....everything is carbon fiber on that thing, lightweight aluminium, all sorts of things...but the car just can't be lightened....and on top of that, Bugatti is done with the Veyron after its production run. The car was never meant to be competing with any other cars OR being used for other things...it was merely a car being used to resurrect the name: BUGATTI.

If they can not lower the weight (but I'm sure a few excessive kilos can be found) they might increase the power to make it as fast as initially claimed - 0-300 in or below 14 seconds.

Their next car is gonna be very very interesting...i'll tell you more when i think it's safe to do so

Is it an extremely powerful GT or another supercar (proper one I hope) or something else ? Do not tease us.

i have assurances from 2 sources
on a separate note, recently, SVT's future became further secured with support from the VP's; albeit, not to the level under Coletti.
SVT operations are go for the Explorer sport track, the CD3 (mozda 6 platform) and another Focus. the SVT Shelby Cobra Mustang has wider tires then what was seen at the auto show, but are still limited by the fact its a live axle. the weight bias seems remeniscant of the Fox Four 5.0 liter mutangs.... a lot of weight is up front, and engine cooling is an issue only because stylists' arent fond of function over form. the hood design is changing every couple weeks still.

SVT is still not the team it once was, there are basically 2 groups... the engineers who want a true sports car, and others who are building the budget muscle car (this is why the live axle is virtually 100%) Thai-Tang has little to do specifically with the decidedly 'unsports car' characteristics of the new Cobra, but more to do with support from the executives, and funding issues.

no word yet of a Ford GT replacer, but it is far from out of the question. the Detroit auto industry is not in a good/safe state right now.

Yeah, I study in Prague. However, my hometown is on the other side of the country. I saw the zonda S yesterday (owned by a man who publishes czech Autocar besides other mags), a murcielago roadster and a F430 spider with all the possible options. Quite new experience to me as I was not used to meeting cars like that before.

UPDATE :

An Oregon based company named Brammo aims to introduce the first V12-powered american supercar. And it seems we're bound to see another 1000hp+ beast. They have already revealed specs of the engine,which will also be sold a single product. It will displace whacking 600 CID, yet weighing only 522lbs.

an american supercar? The Ford GT is the closest I can think of one and that ended being crappy. Couldnt do what they wanted it to do, be cheaper than and beat Ferrari. I dont have much faith in what comes from america.

Now what I want to hear more about is the Succesor of the McLaren F1. Nothing in this world would bring me more joy than McLaren making the next F1 and beating the crap out of bugatti so they learn a lesson or two (owning one would give me more joy now that I think of it).
