My car used to burn/use a quart per 500 miles driven... but then again I was thrashing the living piss (aka oil

) out of the car - literally - the car has been amazing;y reliable considering just how hard I have driven it.

Anything that has gone through 3 sets of rotors, 4 sets of tyres, 2 engines and countless gallons of gas and quarts of oil and still starts first time and daily drives without a fuss can't be that bad...

Pity BMW can't make a car this tough...

Wow, I've heard bad things about BMW and it seems its true. My friend told me stories about BMW in puerto rico being real bad, so I thought it was just there... I went with him to have his M3 serviced and I realized how much BMW sux.

im not saying that BMW cars sux, just their service. As cars, they are astonishing machines and I hope I had the sufficient funds to buy a new M3. I just said that their customer service is bad. You didnt face this troubles?

that jsut goes back o the dumbass tech then. At most, all you'd replace is the fuel filter.

I might have to tell my g.f to disregard what i told her about moving out there if it's the emissions laws dictating system replacement.

My bad. Putting diesel in a petrol car is nowhere near as bad as putting petrol in a dieselcar. I got it the wrong way round

I don't think the problem was emissions related, but I'm not sure. I think the first thing they'd go for in that case would be the cat. I know I've gone through two already though, granted it was a result of my modifications. As far as I know they haven't had the car smogged yet so they wouldn't be required to change anything.

I know the Bimmers in CA have aluminum fuel tanks as opposed to the plastic tanks everywhere else due to the evaporative reuirements, but AFAIK they have been trouble free.

The modification bullshit is one reason i don't want to move there. That and your dickhead cops. The list goes on, in fact i think i have more reasons to stay away from cali then i have not to have kids

transam- yeah, my foreman's sis-in-law just dumped a tank of iesel into her saturn over the weekend. they pumped out the diesel and it ran fine.

I think one of the tricks years ago was to mix like a half gallon of diesel into the tank to clean out the combustion chambers. Kind of a poor man's premium
