Wow, I was a pretty huge detractor of the new cars look when I saw the prototype......but in Imola Red it looks MUCH better!!!
I have to say though, less then 300 lbs/ft of torque out of a V-8?!?!?! As JC ounce opined about old American V-8's: "How do they manage to get so little power out of anengine??" LOL.
I mean, the base model Impreza WRX Sti makes more torque for crying out loud. Heck, the newest 350z model makes near to that in torque. Sheesh. Not very impressed.
I also hadnt heard about Audi making an "RS5". I mean, I knew they would do it eventually, but this is the first I've heard of it in print. Pretty cool. The RS4 is great....but the RS5 out to be more competition for the M-3 since it will be a 2 door coupe like the M-3. Somehow I think the Rs5 might just blow the M-3 outta the water. Either way, it will be fin to watch the flame wars as Im sure peeps on jabbas are gonna end up with buying one of these two cars and then posting about them.
Anyway, props to BMW. Looks like a great car either way. But me thinks I will take a Cayman S.....or even an "M" Coupe before I'd buy the new M-3. Nah, on second thought, I will just buy a Corvette Z06 and pass them all on the track!!

Even more info
http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...-m3-coupe.html
and just for the most impatient how does 3483 pounds sound like? If I'm not listaken this is almost exactly 10 kilo more than the e36 m3, or 83lbs more than the newest CP M3. Oh, and 100+ lbs more than 335i. With 420 hp this is a bargain as they say.
"Official" numbers: 0-100 4,8 Vmax 295kmh
As we all know even the 335i was measured at 4,8something so just imagine my friends!

What can I say, I'm utterly in love!

I'm getting sick of heavier and heavier cars, i know this M3 will be great, but it weighs more than an awd WRX. And somehow the new WRX (ignore ugliness) is lighter than the outgoing model. Whether or not that means more use of card board, they still got the car to become lighter, and i think that deserves more credit than a heavier more powerful M3.

I dunno, the few people I've asked, found it uglier in person then in photos.

Bleeeh...I loved the way that the "concept" M3 looked at Geneva. I really don't think the red suits this car. I think it'll probably look best in the silver/metallic grey of the show car or in dark, metallic colors (blue, black etc...)

Life's too short for a merc
Plus I wouldn't call this particular car a merc, it's tuned to another level.

AMG vs M division, in house tuner vs in house tuner.
Basic CLK 6.3l amg is 40% more expensive than the new M3 here in Finland(140ke vs 104ke), Black Series will be off the charts probably..

^ I'm sorry to disappoint you m8, but the in-house tuner thing is not correct.
M GmbH is a part of BMW. They developed the M brand for racing in 60s I think. And they've had more than one or two wins everywhere they participated, but this is another subject.
AMG, on the other hand, has nothing to do with MB. They were simply a tunnig company and after some projects together with MB, they decided to buy them so that AMG can join the brand.
Not that I have something against AMG but the comparison with M is simply not accurate.
