I would take the SLK any day any time. The Z4 is a good car but compared to the SLK it is nothing.

Less gears, less weight. Sacrifice smooth gear changing for less weight.
Here's a little surprise I found : According to MB the 7-speed auto (which is their latest 7G-TRONIC Transmission) has a much faster acceleration than their manual gearbox.
|
From a standing start, the SLK 350 reaches 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds (with the 7G-TRONIC: 5.5 seconds) and accelerates from 60 to 120 km/h in 8.7 seconds (with the 7G-TRONIC: 5.1 seconds).

Well we've had almost half a year to get used to the Z4 (or one of Bangle's monstrosities IMO). We'll have to wait a little longer and get used to the SLK before we could start making conclusions. Has anyone ever seen a picture of the Z4 with its top up?? I'm guessing it's as ugly as its predecessor, the Z3, with its top up as well.

I always considered these small roadsters to be a kind of girly cars but the new Z4 and the upcoming slk have changed my mind a bit. I would choose the Z4 because it is a BMW,this means a better driving experience, better handling, better engine and a design that there is nothing like it. The bad thing with the new Z4 is that it is angle sensitive, from some angles it just looks striking and from some others it just doesnt look proportional, i havent seen the slk in flesh but from the pics i dont get excited about its looks. There is one thing that i am sure and this is that the Z4 is going to be better to drive.

I would take the Z4 and not even test drive the SLK, and the AMG SLK is only in auto, althought you can get a non AMG SLK with a manual. STRANGE BUT TRUE

personally, it would depend which model SLK and Z4. if it was the AMG SLK, then i'd take that, obviosly. 8)
i wouldnt even bother looking at the low-end SLK's if theyre competing with, say, a 3.0 Z4.
