For your infromation in UK all they use is stick. And in America all they use is automatic. Over 80% of cars are auto in the States so please save the bullshit for something more usefull.

I also compared the vette to other cars that are more practical and yet still high performance that are genuine rivals and most are in the same price range.

Not many people have high performance cars as they're only car. Most people who own them also have a commuting car such as a 3 series, an x type or an s class etc....

lol, fordgtguy where are you from?? As SFDMALEX said the majority of cars in the UK are manual and most in the states are automatic...

Umm, No. I know a lot of people who have manual transmissions, but I know a lot more people who use automatics.

None of that matters anyway, automatics nowadays are damn near as good as a manual. A manual just offers a bit more control over the car. Which doesn't matter to most people.

Pretty ignorant statement. I'm pretty sure automatics are sold all over the world. And I'm sure plenty of people buy them. But, since we are american, that must mean were lazy. So if a British person buys an auto, are they lazy too? Or are they just non-enthusiast car owners? What if a German person buys one? Japanese? Chinese? Russian? Canadian? Mexican? Italian? Should I keep going?

I myself prefer manual transmissions. I think it's more fun. But I won't knock people who buy automatics, especially when all they are doing is going to work every day.

In NA the roads are straight in the cities corners being 90degress and the traffic in big cities is huge, I can imagine driving a stick around rush hour and its hell.

IMO there is nothing bad in buying an auto car.. it's more and more common over here too, and it's true that the latest installment are very refined. When I visit my parents I love to let my 320i in the garage and drive around in my grandma's automatic Vectra (now became a Civic, still auto and can't wait to test it

).. it's relaxing and I can see why ppl could check that option here, in US or on the moon...

but it's also true that, when you think about the country where automatic transmissions are very common, you automatically think North America.. not that it is bad or good, but as pointed out, it's like that. Your roads are different than ours and most ppl, commuters or not, prefer a practical and comfy car that changes gears for you

Still, even if things are changing and are more and more similar maybe, to say US is the kingdom of manual transmissions lovers seems a bit strange

Ask yourself why he had trouble changing gear - It's because in America they build so many autos they have forgotten or don’t know how to build a decent manual. Weight training – pfffft, it's a Sports car not a 18 wheel truck !!!
A Sports car gear change should have a short throw, be precise and effortless so the driver can concentrate on driving - Just like the Honda S2000.

The heavy, clunky gear change on the C6 is just another reason not to buy it.

well when you consider we have some of the worse traffic imaginable where you can be sitting in one place for 10 minutes then move 1-3 car lengths then repeat for 1-2 hours then you would understand why automatics are a nice feature.

As for 90degree corners, well, they only make sense. Seriously, what the hell is the point of a roundabout? LOL All I wanna do is take a left, why do I need to drive in a big ass circle?!
