Why again did Porsche go with Michelins as standard equipment over the Pirellis? I think it had something to with wet performance? Is there any particular reason or benefit with the difference in rim diameter front to rear?

...today we can´t assume that 20sec, as posted in october last year, YES the CGT has been 20sec faster with Pirellis than with Michelins, BUT, as posted back then, this test were done with a prototype CGT!!! just to give you an idea, the very first CGT´s were actually 150-200kg lighter than the production version now!!!
so today it´ll be faster too i believe, but definitely not 20sec...
Michelin developed that tyre especially for the CGT and improved it every now and then, so the Michelin is definitely the best choice and as you said it has a significantly better wet handling...
