More about F1 system:
"Automotive engineering specialists BERU F1 Systems has announced that it is supplying its award-winning digital tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) DigiTyre to Lamborghini for the Gallardo and Murcielago platforms. The safety feature, developed using BERU F1 Systems’ extensive motorsport experience, is standard fit on US Gallardo and Murciélago models to comply with the TREAD act. (The TREAD act makes it mandatory for passenger vehicles and light trucks sold in the USA to be fitted with a pressure monitoring system).

Specialist and niche vehicle manufacturers rightly demand robust and integrated solutions,” says BERU F1 Systems’ managing director John Bailey. “The higher speeds, higher cornering forces and demands experienced by performance cars rule out many solutions currently available. Our system is robust, light yet still retains all the integration features such as end of line testing and dealer diagnostics that OEMs require.”

DigiTyre’s components comprise wheel electronics, an ECU, two antennae and four LF satellite triggers. The wheel electronics contain a battery, absolute pressure sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, micro controller and radio transmitter/receiver housed in a robust wheel housing. By mounting this onto the rear of a modified valve there are no rim modifications and the installation becomes very straightforward. The four LF satellite triggers allow the wheels on the car to be swapped or changed; the system instantly learns the wheels when the ignition is switched on, providing immediate warnings to the driver.

The flexibility of the system allowed Lamborghini engineers the opportunity to fit the system onto the cars without costly modifications to the existing platforms. “Our system is highly configurable,” continues Bailey. “We can adjust software, diagnostics and CAN messaging whilst retaining the proven hardware. This allows us to integrate our components within an existing vehicle architecture, a feature that is attractive to low volume manufacturers.”

The requirement for TPMS is being driven by legislation and tyre construction. Modern rigid tyre walls mean that any drop in pressure will only lead to slight increased flexing of the wall when the vehicle is stationary making it difficult to visibly spot pressure loss. Under inflation can lead to increased loading on the tread shoulders, leading to difficult vehicle handling and loss of control on wet surfaces. The TREAD act makes it mandatory for passenger vehicles and light trucks sold in the USA to be fitted with a pressure monitoring system.

TPMS is fitted as standard on US specification MY08 Gallardo and Murcielago vehicle lines and is an option in other markets. "

- Deliveries to customers in 2007 to increase by 15% to 2400 units
- Exponential growth of sales and profit
- Increase in Asia Pacific deliveries exceeds 25%
Tokyo/Sant´Agata Bolognese (Italy), October 25, 2007. After strong sales and profit growth during the previous years, Automobili Lamborghini is heading for another record year in 2007. Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, has announced at Tokyo Motor Show that all the key results (indicators) from the House of the Bull will show a strong increase once more. The manufacturer of luxury sports cars plans a sum total of deliveries to customers of 2400 units, representing a 15 percent increase over the 2006 financial year. As of today, 2007 deliveries already exceed the total full year deliveries of 2087 units in 2006.
“After having achieved our turnaround into profit in 2004, and with our subsequent move into the group of the most profitable car manufacturers, 2007 marks another strengthening of the corporation and the Lamborghini brand. Thus, we have made another substantial step towards our target of becoming the most profitable super sports car manufacturer in the world”, Winkelmann stated.
The region showing the strongest growth will be Asia Pacific with increased deliveries of more than 25%. The most significant market in the region is Japan, which has seven exclusive dealership partners. Japan is the fifth most important market for Lamborghini world-wide. Due to the region´s growth dynamics, Lamborghini is in line with its strategy to establish an equal division of delivery volumes between Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.
The main factors contributing to Lamborghini’s growth and profitability are its youngest and most attractive product range that includes another recently launched model, the Gallardo Superleggera; the focused expansion of the dealership network; and further increase of brand appeal with customers and the public.
In order to continue Automobili Lamborghini’s success in the future, the dealer network will be expanded consistently as will the product portfolio.
The continuing fervent demand for the two model lines, Lamborghini Gallardo and Lamborghini Murciélago, as well as for the newly presented Lamborghini Reventón is the base for the new record achievement. Lamborghini’s full production is sold out until the end of 2008.

Volkswagen To Sell Lamborghini Sports Cars In South Korea
SEOUL, Oct 26 Asia Pulse - Lamborghini SpA, the Italian sports-car unit of Volkswagen AG, said Friday it will sell the luxury sports cars in South Korea next year under a local dealership to take advantage of the country's booming market for imported vehicles.

At a press conference in Seoul, Lamborghini President Stephan Winkelmann said his company would target South Korean drivers in the age bracket of 30s and 40s.

Lamborghini would sell Gallardo and Murcielago cars priced as much as 538 million won (US$587,000) including taxes here, according to the company's statement.

Sales of imported cars in South Korea are expected to grow 12 percent to 45,500 units this year, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.

The association predicted sales of imported cars in South Korea to reach 70,000 units by 2010.

Lamborghini is rushing to unleash a monstrous, lightweight, rear-drive rocketship supercar late next year, as a last hurrah for Lamborghini’s Murcielago. Sources at Sant’Agata insist the new V12 flagship car will have even more power than the 650bhp Reventón, and will be crushingly fast in a straight line.

To be dubbed the SV, Autocar understands that the new two-wheel drive Murcielago will be at least 100kg lighter than the Murcielago LP640’s 1660kgs. Aome insiders say the weight savings could amount to as much as 130kg.

Losing the front differential and driveshafts will save Lamborghini more than 40kg alone, while lessons learned from the Gallardo Superleggera project will help for a great deal more.

The LP640’s welded-tube steel chassis is a more difficult proposition to pare down than the aluminium-bodied Gallardo, though, and most of the larger car’s body panels are already in carbon fibre. Only its roof and door panels are aluminium.

Lambo’s dieticians will show no murcie

Lamborghini sources insist the SV program has followed the Superleggera program by dividing the focus into three areas: the interior, the exterior and the mechanicals.

The body and the interior are the obvious parts to deal with first. The latter will become carbonfibre central; the inner door skins, the seat shells and the centre tunnel are all expected to be made from the stuff. The current leather-lined door panel will be replaced by one piece of die-cast carbon with a pull strap for a door handle. That will save around 2kg per door.

Lamborghini will strip out the Kenwood multimedia system but, if it follows the Superleggera program, it will happily sell it back to you as an option.

The electronic systems to raise and lower the spoiler, air intakes and front end will also go, and Lamborghini is almost certain to offer two carbonfibre rear wings – one far wider and more outrageous than the other.

Sources insist that the Murcielago SV will receive all-new forged and machined alloy rims, which will save at least 6kg per corner themselves. The saving will be bigger in the rear, because the wheels are larger.

The car will come as standard with the E-Gear transmission, both because it saves nearly 2kg and because Lamborghini is worried that life will be busy enough for SV drivers without negotiating the chromed gearshift gate of a manual transmission.

There will also be massive weight losses through replacing aluminium structural parts with magnesium (brackets, for example) and any non-stressed component will also be lightened.

Powertrain engineers to find another 30 horses

So what of the Murcielago’s glorious mill? Insiders are saying that as much as 680bhp is possible, along with 516lb ft of torque, from what may be the final iteration of a 6.5-litre V12 that can trace its heritage to the pre-Muira era at Lamborghini. Expect new, lighter exhaust internals to serve the dual purposes of cutting weight and easing back pressure.

The Murcielago’s traction control software will be heavily tweaked to cope with power being pumped exclusively through the rear wheels. The Murcielago has no skid-control systems. It will also have the fastest shift on a Lamborghini to date; shift times could drop from the current 0.4 seconds to just 0.2.

Besides the road cars, Lamborghini could also use the car for homologation for privateer teams already running in the FIA GT championship. (Autocar)

No less than seven Lamborghini Gallardo GT3s (four of them as guest
entries) were entered for the final race of the International GT Open at
Barcelona. A total of 25 cars in the GTS category, including the
competition from Ferrari, Dodge, Porsche, Aston Martin and Marcos,
lined up at the start.
The Gallardo demonstrated in practice that it would number among the
top favourites for victory. Four of the Reiter Engineering designed and
built GT cars topped the time sheets. In particular the Gallardos entered
by First Racing from France with Leclerc / Tuchbant and Dubreuil /
Amadu. The examples from MIK Corse (Piccini / Cadei) and Racing Box
(Vosse / Geri) were also at the head of the field.
The Lamborghini armada was narrowly beaten in the qualifying session
deciding the starting grid for the two-hour ten-minute race. During the two
qualifying sessions both drivers from one team qualify the car, the
resulting average lap time determines the grid position. Bruno Dubreuil
and Ulric Amadu had to settle for second position after missing the GTS
pole position by a mere two-tenths-of-a-second. Their team mates
Antoine Leclerc and David Tuchbant were fourth fastest. The German
‘wild card’ entries Rainer Stiefel / Michael Raja were in the thick of the
action in eleventh place in this strong field.
Lamborghini bid the 2007 International GT Open season farewell with a
podium finish. Dubreuil / Amadu from First Racing took the chequered
flag as third in the GTS category after more than two hours of racing. The
second best Gallardo duo in the race dominated by a long safety car
period was Leclerc / Tuchbant also from First Racing.

Italian super car maker Lamborghini is on track for record sales in 2007 and sees no threat from a stronger euro or a downturn in the US economy, according to the company's chief executive.

Lamborghini, a unit of Volkswagen AG's Audi, expects to sell 2400 of its hand-made vehicles in 2007, up 15 per cent from 2006, the company said.
The Italian car maker offered the sales projection at the Los Angeles auto show, where it showed off its $US1.5 million ($NZ2.0 million) Reventon, the most expensive car it has ever built.
Lamborghini will make only 20 of the super-sleek Reventon models and sold out that limited run in less than a week.
Eleven of the 20 vehicles were sold in the US and five of those in California, the biggest single market for Lamborghini, chief executive Stephan Winkelmann told Reuters.
Winkelmann said he has seen no sign that the slump in the once high-flying California real estate market was hurting demand for Lamborghini, which competes with the likes of Ferrari in speed and exclusivity.
"So far we have not seen any sign that there is a crisis," Winkelmann said.
The stronger euro has also not cost Lamborghini sales in the US, although the company has not raised pricing to reflect the weaker dollar, he said.
"It's clearly affecting our profitability but it has not kept us from making sales in the United States," he said.
Even if an economic recession in the US market began to hurt demand for luxury goods, Lamborghini would be shielded by its 12-month backlog of customer orders, Winkelmann said.
The US accounts for about 40 per cent of the brand's sales. California represents over a quarter of sales.
Winkelmann, who has spearheaded an increase in Lamborghini's dealer network since becoming CEO in 2004, said that planned expansion was nearing its end.
Lamborghini will end the year with about 110 dealers, up from 65 in 2005, he said. The company's largest dealership is in Orange County, just south of Los Angeles.
Winkelmann said Lamborghini could add another 20 dealerships in the coming years. "For the time being, I don't see the need for higher numbers," he said.
As it slows the growth in showrooms, Lamborghini will look for revenue growth in areas outside auto sales, including licensing and arranging tours and driving academies for groups of its loyal owners, Winkelmann said. "As a manufacturer, you have to add value, but the first rule for us is not to dilute the value of the brand," he said. "We are in the luxury business -- with all of the complexity of the auto business."
