Why do Italians fall so easilly? Like their cars...fragile.

Zidane! Going out with a bang

Oh well...and tomorrow...I go back to helping A-10s & F-16's drop bombs.

Poor Zidane isn't even at the after game ceremony. What a sad end to such a career.

What the hell was he thinking!...whatever Materazzi told him doesnīt justify his behaviour. You simply donīt expect this from a player of his rank....what a shame.

I was rooting for France (for a change - yes I really am a Brit!!!), but I was more gutted about Zidane. A player I have enjoyed watching for years - to finish like that. I don't exactly feel sorry for him, he knew exactly what he was doing. He does not even have the excuse of being a young, inexperienced player.

A shame, a real shame.

Its unbelievable that Zidane got tossed, stupid move on his part. How about Materazzi though, first the penalty, then the goal, then Zidane, then he stepped up and made the penalty. Unbelievable really and more than a little saddening.

well this tournament has put me off soccer big time, what a joke of a game. Sure there are some brilliant moments but just too much crap from the players and refs which has too big an impact on the result.

Congrats to Italy, the best cheats beat the runners-up.

Poor Zidande...

Thats pretty out of character for Zidane too!

They needed to bring back yellow cards for falling over like last world cup!

There are refs constantly watching video feed and make sure the calls are correct. The one that didn't see the headbutt was informed by radio ... pls be more sensible.

I don't see any problem with ref making the right call.

Hehe sucks that Ukraine had no luck in the game with Italy.

I mean it should have been a 3:2 game against Ukraine. Or actually if Ukraine did tie at the start of the second half like they should have done it could have been a tottaly different game.

Oh well......

In this sport like any, its not only the skill that counts. you need bucket loads of luck. And Italy had both, except they will always go down as the biggest actors to play the cup.

The rules state that if the ref didnt see it with his own eyes he's not allowed to make a call on the play. The refs monotoring the video feed can only fine the players after the game but dont have an impact on the game as its beeing played.

However it appears that the line ref did see zidane's headbutt and thats the ref that made the call so it was ligitimate.

That being said after following the entire world cup i was pissed that Italy won. They in no way deserved to win that game France was the better team without a doubt. Just a shame that their three best penalty takers left the game before shootouts.
