I am not sure it will be good for everyone:

- Michelin will do their best to do as good as possible this year, just to tell the FIA: you should have changed the rules. Also, they have a reputation to maintain. So I am sure they will do their best;
- If it happens to favorise Ferrari after they live (everyone not getting the same tyres,...) GPWC will come even faster, and that is not what the FIA wants (nor Ferrari, so neither does Bridgestone).

So it leaves us with F1 getting less attractive, and that's all. Great job Max :splat:

BTW I still don't understand why tyre changes will be available next year. Anyone?

^Don't under estimate the will power of Bridgestones........FIA do target Bridgestone for the rule change in the first place, so it is very reasonable for them not performing last year.....

With more teams testing for Bridgestones and allowing tire change during race again, the situation might not be as good as it thought for the michelins

Oh, I am sorry, I thought last year's changes were made to bring the costs down to get more cars to F1, and to reduce the speed of the cars for safety. BTW, you should tell the FIA that as well, as it is what they told the world

More seriously, this was one of their objective as well, so coming back now on the "no tyre changes in a race" rule make them look like idiots (to me). It's the same for the larger slick tyres that they might bring back soon. They don't worry about safety anymore??? It looks like they are trying to make the car less performing, but more performing at the same time

That is what I don't understand

They also try to sell the F1 like the most demanding races, but the cars are getting less and less complicated (from a high level, I know). If you let the teams develop their car the way they believe is the best, you could end up with cars that are different enough in order to have people faster in differents places: overtaking!

They are trying to make them all the same now: the only actions you will get will be during practices, qualifications (when we will now how it will last for more than one year) and during pit stops! That will be fun :x

EDIT: BTW, don't rip my haed of if you don't agree, because I see it arriving

if that were true, then we would've seen a very different year in terms of speed. we even ended up seeing new lap records, and a race pace very near to what it was in 2004.

the only thing that it ended up changing is more cost (to develope a new tire to last 70 laps with huge grip) more testing/more cost, and more danger for the drivers.

and yes, it did make them look like idiots... they are

the rule was specifically made to hurt Ferrari's chance of bringing home the drivers/mfr. championship.

the v8'ts are here to slow the cars down the hight of the front wings is to slow the cars down, the lack of LC is to slow the cars down. the grooves are to slow the cars down...

Alonso to join McLaren in 2007

McLaren has stunned Formula One by announcing they have signed world champion Fernando Alonso for the 2007 season.

Alonso won his world title in a Renault and is contracted to the Anglo-French team for next season. However, he will now switch to McLaren for 2007, meaning either Kimi Raikkonen or Juan Pablo Montoya will be forced out.

The moves comes just days after McLaren signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Vodafone.

Ron Dennis, the team manager said: "It's great that our strong belief in the strength and competitiveness of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes package has been further endorsed by the world champion."

Alex Wurz is to join Williams in 06 as a test driver.

Might be some good news, but I would have prefered to see him in the driver's seat, he is able to do at least as good as the driver they have this year. Too bad he doesn't have the money
