More power, more torque
If you want to go further whit engine tuning/building then you better get a stand alone ecu.

best ECU for the Q7's 4.2 V8 is from DMS Motorsport
or just begin with a car and engine that has a completly programmable system from the beginning.. like GM provides

Like the motronic in my Audi you mean.....

Its basicly the same as a motec or simular, it seems like there are alot of simular things here....
Well, if out of the box - boe stock - as delivered from the dealer - your Audi allows custom fuel mapping, ignition timing, rev limiter, torque management and other things to be adjusted and tuned to the nth degree - then yes.

The motronic is basicly a stand alone ecu, like motec, autronic and simular so yes....they dont call it vorsprung durch technik just for fun, and the motronic alowed one to do this since the early 90`s....
I did no knew that buth most factory ecu's are pretty limted in what they can do.
This where a stand alone ecu comes in.

An entirely open ended, uneducated and uninformed post if ive ever seen one...

Best thing for what??
Best for user friendlyness, maybee

Best for processing power, no

Best for options internal to the ecu, no

Best for number or entries in fuel, spark, temperature compensation etc tables, no

Best for the ability to run the entire car's electrical systems, trip computers, climate control systems etc, ummm no

In certain instances they can be usefull, but an all encompassing statement like, a motec is best is just false.

The main issue is the lack of access codes to the factory units, otherwise tuning would be a much more financialy friendly thing!
