Uh, what? "Filthy rich" just means "really really really really rich" to the extent that you don't really know how to spend all this cash that you have lying around. Of course I don't think all the rich folks in China, or in the rest of the world are filthy per se. The vast majority of people gain wealth through hard work. I am also aware of the growth in personal wealth of many Chinese citizens, especially the emergence of a middle-class in the major business cities, like Beijing and Shanghai, and the creation of a business elite. I was merely surprised at how many everyday sightings there are of premium automobiles on the streets of Beijing.
