Hmm - sounds like you guys wanted to crash into each other - it takes self control and restraint to race without crashing into others.
No, I like actually racing. Most people however, including online, thats all they want to do to win. I will admit that the damage model on Forza SUCKS, but at least it is there. A personal favorite of mine is when it lags the damage a second and the car bounces off the wall, comes to a rest, then the bumper falls off...

sidewinder wheel for what system?
The sidewinder is for my PC.

Also, when playing at your friends, the only way to setup multiplayer is in full arcade mode with stupid traction control, and stability control (numbs the feel of under/oversteer)
I will have to run over to my friends over break and try it not in mulitplayer, because it felt like crap in multi.

All this GT vs Forza is more how they complement each other.
Forzas graphics aren't thet great, and the cars may not handle as realistic as GT, but its their first game, and its a close competitor to GT.
As for the damage I don't think it'll ever be crash and you're done type of thing, it would just take a lot of fun factor to it, I prefer a great coding on Force Feedback than on crashing, but the Forza type of damage is great, much better than not having any damage.
Forza 2 seems promising, I recently bought the FF XB 360 Wheel which is designed for Forza 2...
Maybe it won't be the most real thing but I have fun, yeah more real would be much better but so far they're doing good...

Who's the clueless idiot at Microshaft that signed off on a steering wheel for $150 and "designed for Forza2" that appears to not have a stick shift?

What a joke..

Seriously... aren't 90% of the cars in Forza 2 going to have stick shifts?

don't think so, but also they don't have a competition wheel, 2 pedals and a steering lock @ 270° so...
