next-gen E63 AMG spyshots? It has the quad-pipes (although funny-looking)
Still over two years away, our spies have garnered details on the next all-new Mercedes E63 AMG, the power-version of the code-named W212 standard E-class which itself is due for a 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show debut.
Mercedes will abandon SBC in favour of conventional brakes, although they will boast features on all variants such as wet-weather disc wiping and wheel-selective cornering brake control. Optional ceramic-composite discs could be introduced top-down, starting with the AMG model pictured here for the first time, racing down the legendary German Nürburgring race circuit.
The next E-class will copy the S-class's wheel-arch extensions, rising character line below the door handles, massive bumpers, and greenhouse. A more sculpted wide-frame grille, the more geometric nasal air intakes, and the wedge-shaped profile should give W212 a sportier stance. Actually, early styling models show a certain affinity for the most recent efforts from Lexus – such as the rectangular quad headlamps, the C-pillar treatment, and the taillights. This is, of course, ironic given that the Lexus LS is famous for copying Mercedes, but Stuttgart still has plenty of time to hone the shape.
Driver assistance in general is a major theme for W212. Expect lane-departure warnings, an eye-movement monitor, traffic-sign identification, road-condition sensors, and stability control that accounts for crosswinds, camber changes, and tire wear. We expect the usual V6- and V8-engines, plus a normally aspirated, 500-plus-bhp 6.3-liter V8 for the E63 AMG model.

Mercedes is preparing the new generation E-Class, code named W 212, for release in mid 2009. Although, there is nothing new to report since our last installment of E 63 AMG spy photos, here are the most recent photos of the heavily disguised prototype.
The disguise on the test car is still hiding details of the new styling which feature elements from the just launched C-Class, however, we can see the overall shape resembling the new S-Class.
After considerable quality problems with the current E-Class, Mercedes is now striving hard to increase the quality standard of the new model to its highest possible level .
The next E-Class will offer a wide selection of engines, ranging from 184hp 4-cylinder to a 544hp V8 petrol engines, and 136hp 4-cylinder to 354hp V8 diesels. One can expect the usual V6 and V8-engines, plus a normally aspirated, 500+ HP 6.3-liter V8 for the E 63 by AMG.

I like the new C-class, but I'd prefer if the E-class would more closely resemble the S-Class I'm sure people won't agree with me though

I like the Saab style clamshell bonnet. Hope that stays.

Latest renderings:
The rear lights seem to fit the car well but it's bland and screams LEXUS!
Updated: Mercedes is set to release its next-generation E-class sedan by 2009, with sales to start soon after the car’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Remaining similar in size to the current model, the new E-class will pick up styling cues from the CLS four-door coupe as well as a new angular front end with four square shaped headlights.
The interior will hopefully continue Mercedes’ recent return to form in the quality department, and is expected to feature a mix of elements from the S and C-class models including a centrally mounted color screen as well as an in-dash unit between the speedo and tachometer.
A wagon variant will hit the market less than 12 months after the launch of the sedan and will feature a widened C-pillar and a chrome strip across its rear.
Base models will be powered by a 184hp four-cylinder turbo engine, with the range topping out with a 544hp V8 model. New to the lineup will be a direct injection petrol V6 model, a 354hp diesel V8 version and the all-new hybrid model that’s expected to arrive after 2010.

there is too much of the Lexus GS in tehre which is really bothersome especially if youre shelling out for a Mercedes.

Butch, but bland.
Audi still wins the design crown.

E63 AMG spy video
On the Nurburgring
The most powerful of the W212 E-class has recently been caught driving some high-speed laps around the legendary German Nurburgring. Powered by the 500+ hp 6.3 liter V8, this more aggresively styled E-class is expected to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt IAA motor show.

Latest rendering from CWW:
Quad headlamps still there but I honestly won't mind if the E-Class turns out this way. This is the best rendering by far!!!

Obviously just a rendering like you say but it looks pretty damn good. Wonder if the E-class will get quad headlamps though.

I don't like it. Though if the engine fact is real it should do great performance.
