Default So - the Corvette is a 'heavy, bad handling yank tank'...

Just finished reading an interesting editorial... summarized the ACTUAL fueled up weight of a number of cars... not the manufacturers "claimed dry weight" - but the actual all up, wet weight.

So I added a few more cars to the list - to help illustrate - the truth is quite an eye opener.

4120lb : Mercedes Benz SL500
4040lb : Jaguar XKR
4027lb : Aston Martin Vanquish
3890lb : Mercedes Benz SLR
3820lb : Maserati Spyder
3815lb : Ferrari 575M
3786lb : Jaguar XJ8
3767lb : Aston Martin DB9
3665lb : 2004 Ford SVT Cobra
3655lb : Lamborghini Murcielago
3560lb : Camaro SS
3527lb : 1994 Corvette C4 ZR-1
3495lb : Porsche 911 Turbo
3495lb : Ferrari 360 Spider
3429lb : Ford GT (thanks andrevas
3380lb : Dodge Viper SRT
3350lb : Lamborghini Gallardo
3291lb : 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena updated with actual weight from a road test
3262lb : Ferrari Enzo
3250lb : Porsche GT2
3246lb : Corvette C6 Coupe
3245lb : Corvette C5 Coupe
3240lb : Nissan 350Z
3153lb : Acura NSX
3152lb : Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale andrevas to the rescue
3140lb : Corvette C5 Z06
3050lb : Porsche Boxster
3020lb : Mazda RX8
2976lb : Pagani Zonda (the most realistic weight I have found - based on their 2755lb dry weight - anyone got an actual test?)
2700lb : Koenigsegg CC (my estimate based on their claim of 2575lb dry weight - anyone have an actual road test of the car?)
2000lb : US Spec Lotus Elise (by special rquest - thats Car & Drivers number)
1660lb : Euro Spec Lotus Elise http://www.pointandsquirt.co.uk/elise_specs.html

You can argue build quality, heritage, curb-appeal, head-turning-quotient etc all you want - the truth is that the "cheap plastic car from Kentucky" is a blast to drive...

Oh - and if you drive ANYTHING else, you better hope the Z06 lined up beside you is still stock - because at 3140 pounds fully fueled, ANY extra power will be devastating to your "import" ego... - in a straight line AND in the bends...
