you know nothing about style, the Z3 was possibly one of the most beautiful and flowing designs ever to come out of BMW, especialy the coupe version. Obviously i'd take the Z4, BUTTTT just to attempt and throw in an added twist what about the boxster?

Z4 all the way...i think they took the SLR F1 style nose just one step too far. best left to the SLR. looks ungainly on the SLK. i would take the last generation SLK over the current one too.

I would take a Z4 anyday.
I hate Mercedes interiors and the SLK kinda looks like a Lexus SC at some views.
It defintely wont drive as well as the Z4 as well

I am a BMW guy.. But with the new BMW design, it's going downhill..
I like the new SLK a lot.. I even like the Old SLK over the Z3.. So SLK all the way.. would even be better if it was a Barabus SLK, that thing is so good looking..

i´ve my Z4 3.0 now for half a year and all i can say: IT´S GREAT !!!
a perfect cruiser for the summer and on the other hand quite compareable with the E46 M3, maybe i´ll go for the ACS engine kit next summer to have ~300hp and then i´m definitely sure that it´ll outrun a std. M3....
i don´t really like the new SLK look but i´ll definitely test drive one...
IMO it´s more the ladies car, and the Z4 the one for the "boys"...

I'd take the Z4, because it is the purer driver's car. Have you seen the Z4 in the flesh? I swear, do NOT look at one if you;re in heavy traffic, you WILL get into an accident as you turn around for the 456th time to get another look at it pass by, or pull up behind/side by side/ in front/left/right of you.
The new SLK.... say it with me... "Same sausage in different lengths". Just as BMW, and now Audi, are trying to stop their cars from looking like different lengths of the same sausage, Mercedes are doing the exact opposite! E-Class looks suspiciously like C-Class as well as S-Class from the rear, me thinks. Except of course for the Maybach (That looks like an overstretched Rover 75).
As it is, how could an AMG SLK ever stand up to a Z4 M (if one was ever made)?
Even the Porsche Boxster loses out to a Z4 2.5 (Autocar UK). Take the Z4, and you wont regret it. I managed to take one out for a test drive (Rare, esp in Malaysia). Every girl i saw checked me out, for starters, and my parents are actually considering selling their E-Class and E34 5-series to get one.
It's wonderful to drive.

i say go MERC... for obvious reasons
<-----
I think the SLK comes from a longer line of descendants than the Z's ever did. I THINK but it wouldn't matter wat i think because i'm bias.
But what I can tell you for sure is that the hard top is VERY much more favourable than the canvas. I don't know where your from but when rain hits the canvas, it can get pretty irritating. i would know. =T
the breakdown, SLK all the way.

...quite sure i´ve driven an E46 M3 at a track day at the A1-ring here in Austria so i had a quite good comparison, we don´t have any clocked times, but in a compariso set up by Motorvision, the E85 3.0 clocked a better lap time than the E46 M3, so i´m quite confident that a 300hp+ Z4 could outrun a M3....
maybe we should meet up in summer , btw is that your M3 in you sig...bloody nice car, i simply LOVE the E46 M3
the colour is called Merlot-red, in combination with the beige leather IMO the best choice for a Z4...
