Is it true that the next 911 S versions will have upgraded engines as well? rumors are that they will have 250kw?
pity that this model run is only for 2 and a bit years...

no rumours any more, the 997 engines´ll definitely have more power, not sure how much more, this issue is up to the marketing dep., there´ve been some troubles on that power issue, i´ve posted something on that here recently...

Its nice to see that there are no resonators attached to the CGT airbox to kill the engine intake sound

St-Anger. Since you are the Porsche guru, waht is your opinion of the Carrera GT, being naturally aspirated and all. I personally LOVE it. It's gorgeous, elegant, fast and innovative. I want to hear a real educated comment from you about it, since you would know.

well, with a little bit of effort you can easily find all the infos ( even the educated ones... ) on the CGT right here in "Porsche news" including a full review of my test drive with it on 21st oct. 2003...
but to quickly answer your question right now:
IMO the CGT is THE supercar right now, hands-down...

- so what´s new in Porsche land??? -
i know, i promised to keep you guys up to date on my work at PAG, but there´ve been so much work to do in the last few weeks so i hardly typed anything in here, sorry for that…
as you know, right now i´m involved in the 955 upgrade, my main section is engine and drivetrain engineering, and winter time´s always busy because the revised 955 V8 is constantly running on our test rigs at the EZW, we checked new chargers and intercoolers but mainly brand new parts like cons, cylinder design, intake system… and one of the main goals is to reduce fuel consumption which is quite hard to manage depending on the power output. concerning power it´s not yet decided which power kit´ll be going into production, there are quite a few options starting at ~500hp ~515lb-ft (700Nm) ranging up to 600hp but it´s not very likel that this version´ll go into production, maybe we´ll see such options in another modell there´ve been lot´s of test with the transmission too which is very important for a car in that power range but during stress testing on our test rigs there were only minor problems. as you probably know such test engines are extremely expensive, for a layperson nearly unbelievable but our test engines are at a pricetag of approx. 250k € each!!!, and we´ve to buy some new equipment from AVL too, so there are only three engines available for testing, two on our “Puma” test rigs and one in a revised Cayenne. the engine in that car has slightely over 500hp and 500lb-ft. as i´ve written some time before in late fall 2003 we were already testing that car in Leipzig and the last few weeks we were adjusting the whole driveline at the outskirts of the EZW which has been definitely lot´s of fun too, not only concentrated work. well, even to drive the concomitant vehicles is fun in the snow because they are all 955TT´s and S´s
in spring the test sessions´ll intensify again, as you probably know PAG is running a own test center at the Nordschleife, and we´ll test it there too, i hope we´ll be there too when “Sport Auto”´ll do their CGT test again
´till then i´ve to do some office work, analyse the data of the test so far, drive to Leipzig and do some talks with the engineers at the production facility, ....
and don´t forget...work on the so-called 4th model
sorry, you know i can´t talk about any details of my work and even if all this haven´t been that informative, it´s all i can share with you at the time...
...but everything i´m looking forward now is that my wife´ll visit me today in the afternoon here in Flacht ( a town very close to Weissach ), all the other stuff´ll follow...

So, we'll se the tuned CGT. I don't know if I have to be happy or not. Of course a lot of bhp are always welcome, but I don't have the courage to put 2 turbochargers in that engine. It's perfect the way it is. N/A, redline over 8000rpm, unic sound. It's pure.
Even if it has 1000bhp, I'll always prefere the CGT in the original version.
