I think I might just know what it is. If it has a brilliant racing history and is 'flatter' than usual, I think I might have it
lets just say a 996 GT2 owner was very suprised

Alright through my Porsche connections I have word that there is a 1995 RUF BTR/Prototech conversion currently for sale in the Boston region. 500 hp rear wheel, sunroof delete, rear seat delete...

I am actually in the works at seeing what the situation is with the car and if needed I may have to sell my current ride for a second shot at another RUF BTR!!!

No question it's a '95 RUF BTR.

And yes it's Gruppe B Turbo RUF
such as CTR is Gruppe C Turbo RUF
and RT12 is RUF Turbo 12th generation or so i was told by Herr Ruf himself

To help clarify - here is an official-based listing of the series known as BTR that were available from RUF as either RUF VIN builds or Porsche VIN conversions. Thsi is an extract from an artcile I am preparing.

The data comes from an officially RUF sanctioned resource and is abotu as accurate as can be found.

Of course, as with all RUF cars, there are the RUF specs (as built and often tested) and then there are RUF customer-specific specs. If you arrive with the desire and an idea - and the money - RUF will prepare your car your way.

That is why if you ever see a "RUF" car, check to see if the VIN number if is a Porsche VIN (indicating a possible offical conversion) or a RUF VIN.

If ever you guys see a car, and are in doubt - send me the VIN number via PM and I will contact RUF and help verify if the car is indeed the real deal

BTR 3.4 Coupe * Lightweight *
(1983 - 1989)
374bhp @ 6,000rpm
354lb ft @ 4800rpm
0-100kmh 4.6s
0-200lmh 15.5s
175mph vmax

BTR 3.4 Coupe
(1987 - 1989)
374 bhp @ 6,000rpm
354 lb ft @ 4800rpm
0-100kmh 4.8s
0-200lmh 16.7s
190mph vmax

RUF BTR 3.4 was the first car to be RUF manufacturer VIN numbered. A RUF developed 5 speed transmission was another special concession to going quicker than a factory Porsche 911. The leightweight version was for the ture nut-jobs - with the "comfort version" having sall luxuies imaginable. The being matched to the aerodynacs of the forntal area - the widebody could manage to eek out 175mph while the narrow body was able to scream all the way to 190mph.

BTR III
(1988 - 1989)
408 bhp @ 6,000rpm
354 lb ft @ 4800rpm
0-100kmh 4.6s
0-200lmh 15.5s
180mph vmax

RUF BTR III the first RUF single turbo use the Motronic engine management system - resulting in not only more power, but smoother delivery as well more flexibilty and much improved fuel economy. There was also a slant nose version of the BTR III available. There wasd also for the first time available a new RUF 6 speed transmission as an option instead of the RUF 5 speed. In "stock" RUF form the significantly dirty aerodynamics of the wide trubo bodywork kept max speed at 180mph.

BTR 3.8
(1992 - 1994)
415 bhp @ 6,000rpm
406 lb ft @ 4800rpm
0-100kmh 3.9s
0-200lmh 12.9s
198mph vmax

RUF BTR 3.8,the narrow body light weight car that helped celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 911. The interior was kept spartan to play into the lightweight theme - with leather wrapped racing seats the only luxury options provided. With the weight down and the power up and aided by the slippery narrow body, the BTR 3.8 could bahn storm to 62mph in 3.9 seconds, and did not stop pulling until it's 198mph top speed.

BTR 2 Coupe
BTR 2 Cabriolet

(1994 - 1997)
420 bhp @ 5,000rpm
428 lb ft @ 4800rpm
0-100kmh 4.1s
0-200lmh n/as
191mph vmax

RUF BTR 2 was introduced soon after the 993 body style hit the streets. New RUF 18 inch wheels alowed carrying larger beefirer brakes and matched well to the RUF 6-speed gearing - allowing for a respectable 191mph terminal velocity.

But I have learned when it comes to RUF research, google returns more urban legend than reality

Thats why I am using a new print resource as my main research tool for now - followed up by direct queries to RUF
