I didn’t download to check it out but I am pretty certain that this is a repost from the “Video and Picture Links” forum. But it is nice to have it post here as well . There was a good discussion about the video and additional information about the car and the driver with additioanl pictures. See http://www.motorworld.net/forum/show...=212147#212147

Great collection of photos st-anger. Is that WR in the first photo? Where you there to take the photo? The 997 GT3 Cup is really a gorgeous racing car. I think it maybe the best looking car on the circuit when it takes to the tracks.

In looking through this collection, I was impressed by the artistic shape of Porsche’s new car designs. Has there been a change in the design team or maybe the beauty of the designs are due to an increased marketing emphasis that was discussed earlier? I recall reading that the designer of the 993 also designed the 997 so I would guess that the individual also designed the 996. Personally, I think the 2002 996 is one of the low points in 911 design. IMO the mk1 996 looked better than the mk1 and if I understood st-anger correctly it handled better too http://www.motorworld.net/forum/show...=134913#134913 . The mk2 introduced an angularity that clashed with the rest of the flowing curves of the mk1 996. Although the angular lines of the 2002 996 looks better on the more aggressive GT3 RS 8) .

yep, it´s Walter in the first, but also in the 5th pic
no, of course i haven´t been there by myself - otherwise there´d be tousands of pics
no, seriously, it´s a customer event in the USA...

to quickly answer your question, no there hasn´t been a change till 997, Harm Lagaay has been Head of the Design Department for 15years now, on 1st july he retired...
PAG’s board of management has appointed Michael Mauer, chief designer of Saab and Advanced Concept Center General Motors Europe, as his successor...
his first contact with Porsche came in 1971, and over the following six years in the Design Department in EZW, he worked on the 924 and 911 models in particular. In 1977 he moved to Ford in cologne as design manager, where his advanced design department worked on the Escort, Sierra and Scorpio. a further step forward in his career followed in 1985, when he became chief designer at BMW Technik GmbH in Munich and played a leading part in the development of the Z1. since 1989 Lagaay has headed the main "Style Porsche" department in EZW, which has responsibility for the design of all Porsche models and also for development work undertaken on behalf of outside clients ( PEG, PES )

under the leadership of Lagaay, both the design study and the final Boxster model took shape; this car was launched in the autumn of 1996 and stimulated a commercial turnaround for Porsche.
the 996-series Porsche 911 and the Cayenne are also products of his pen. Lagaay’s career at Porsche culminated with the Carrera GT high-performance sports car, the design of which has been awarded numerous international prizes.
his last project was the 997 where he went back to his favourite design, the 993...

Michael Mauer studied automobile design from 1982 to 1986 at the Polytechnic in Pforzheim, and from there secured his first job in the design area of Mercedes-Benz AG in Sindelfingen. In 1989 he was appointed design project leader, and two years later oversaw design work for the first SLK model generation. in July 1995, the company appointed him head of department and entrusted him with design responsibility for the A-Class, SLK and SL models.

in 1998 Michael Mauer moved to the Mercedes-Benz advanced design studio in Tokyo as general manager, and was intensively involved in advanced development work on various model lines. a year later, he was put in charge of Design at MCC smart GmbH. in June 2000 he went to the swedish Saab company as executive director design, and since march 2003 he has also been responsible for advanced design at GM Europe.

he´ll start working here at EZW on 1st of november 2004...

good luck michael
