i´m a subscriber, just ask when you want a scan, but be sure that there´ll definitely be one from the RS test...

I believe from what i read in the auto car test of the challenge stradale against the RS that the RS came out ontop, at least from chris harris's point of view (which i respect).

...sorry for being late again, but we´ve some VERY VERY busy times here at the EZW and guess what, tonight i´ll be off for a week to Finland for testing, i even can´t visit my wife once more before we´ll be off
there´d be quite something to talk about, i´ve heared some very good news about the 997, marketing dep. says it´s very likely that it´ll be in stores in summer ´04, and that there´s a very good chance that ppl can already see it at Geneva car show in march...

wow thats great, looking forward to seeing that car. BTW how long have they been developing this car? i know a german car mag already reported about the 997 in 2002, and they already knew it would have round headlamps again. They also said it would be little more than an update of looks and engine, and that the real next evolution of the 911 would be in 2007. what is true of that?

plz note that it´s NOT confirmed that it´ll be shown at Geneva, it´s likely but as you know marketing dep. rules the world and when they say "NO" one minute before the launch it´ll not be shown there...

i can tell you quite precise when developement of the 997 started: right after the 996 launch, and developement for the 998 has already begun... 8)

When developing a car how do you get around all the different regulations? For example the USA has very different rules to Europe e.t.c. Once the car has been developed, do you then adapt it to the US market, or do you always keep an eye on all the regs??

yep you´re right, they´re simply adapted...
during developement the different parts are designed as required and they´re also produced like the Euro parts, and on the assembly line the worker get´s the info whether it´s a Euro or US car from the computer and simply installs e.g. additional orange position lights for the US version, you´ve probably noticed that, the yellow CGT from the CGT-report is a US version with the additional position lights at the front fender...

as you know i´ve already seen the 997 and i simply love it...
i´ve never really liked the 996 shape, but the 997 IMO looks like that how the 996 should have looked liked right from the start...

so a few months ago they might have been working on 3 generations 911s: the 996 GT3RS, the 997, and th e 998? must be busy at porsche, but i dont mind, the better porsche is doing, the happier i am!
