BTW st-amger, could this be a true Cayenne by 9ff or just a bumper, wheels and a big sticker? LOL

Am I wrong or their top level Turbo is quote at almost 600 hp? But this could be just an S with some tweaks.. no idea..

...wheels are definitely the 22" "FR 2-5 9ff-Design"

and yep, you´re right, their top product for the 955 is the "FM55 T-3, 600hp/750Nm engine kit...

i´d say it´s a 9ff 955TT, grill is 955TT, although i´ve never ever seen such air intakes ( the silver one´s ) on a 9ff, i know them from e.g. "Sportec", and the edge on the bonnet is also a 955TT feature...
and i don´t see any sign of a 9ff body kit...

personally i don´t like the looks of the 9ff 955, i´d prefer the GEMBALLA GT 600 AERO 3 package, VERY nice :shock:

Like you, I don't like to much the 9ff visual mods for the Cayenne, but that's the first time I see one of their product, or at least part of it!

and it was parked in front of a Mazda dealer LOL

I like the cayenne alot and i see it everywhere here, but there's something about how it looks, i mean it looks like a lifted up 911 . there's isn't much difference. IMO i think they should've taken more time designing an SUV not just a 911 with big tyres :roll:

well obviously they had to make it look like a Porsche, and IMO theres quite alot of difference between the Cayenne and the 911. I think they should've made it look a little bit more sporty. But it is an incredibly fast car, in a dutch car mag they had a test on Zandvoort circuit when it was kinda wet, and it actually beat a 996 Carrera(not sure if it was a 2 or 4), anyway thats pretty darn quick for a car that big and heavy

- CGT US press tests -

so, it´s spring again here in europe, and in italy it´d been warm enough to properly test drive the Carrera GT by US press...
test were held at a small racing circuit in italy, with exactely the same cars that were used for euro press events, so again, NO production cars, just "prototype" cars with the press finish...

some figures:

0-60: 3.5 sec
0-100: 6.8 sec
0-130: 10.8 sec

1/4 mile = 12.2 sec @ 132mph

all test with TC on...

70-0 braking = 145feet

max lateral g: 1.25g ( VBOX GPS vehicle dynamics measurement system )

i´m still waiting for the second Sort Auto test, hopefully with a production car :roll:

those figures are very very impressive! but something doesn't seem right about the 0-130 speed, or the quartermile. how can it take an additional 1.4 seconds to only gain 2mph?

you´re right, i´ve noticed that too, IMO quatermile should be a bit faster, BUT to properly accelerate with a Carrera GT is quite difficult, you really can´t compare it with a std. car or a GT2 ore even an Enzo with paddles...
it requires lot´s of experience and practice, as i mentioned in my CGT report the CGT´s clutch is very very tricky, ppl who don´t have any experience with a racing clutch´ll stall the engine, i´m 80% sure about that...
so due to the clutch issue it´s nearly impossible for non-experienced drivers to do a launch without TC on...

so as i said, i don´t pay too much attention to the figures from the press events, most of the editors can´t handle a car like the CGT, they´re too much used to the "soft boiled" "supercars"...
that´s why i´m desperately waiting for WR to do some tests, he´s IMO the only person besides roland kussmaul and michael hölscher, who really know how to drive really fast with the GT...

I may be missing something here st-anger, but if it is true that only a select handful of people are truly able to drive the GT really fast then IMO it appears that porsche created a car that will appeal to pros and posers only. Not that anyone else can afford a GT!
So are you saying then that a GT is harder to drive then a GT3?

no, no you ain´t missing anything...
the CGT has been redesigned several times to make it more driveable, this had been one of the top priorities: to have a "daily driver" supercar, not sportscar, supercar...
yes, it´s true the clutch is tricky, no question about that, BUT it´s all about practice, and 90% of the CGT customers don´t give a sh** if they´re ever able to do a 3.5sec launch, because for that you´ve to be quite skilled...
on the other hand with 5 or 6 launches you get quite a good feeling that there´s hardly any clutch slip and the clutch in travel is kinda low, so no, not compareable with a GT3 or even GT3 RS clutch...
just to drive off you can also clutch in at idle speed by adding some gas and it´ll also drive off like a normal Porsche, but to properly launch revv to about 2- to 3000 rpm and release the clutch pedal with some slip ( i know, it´s not much, but you´ll get a feeling for that quite soon...)...
but with the main point you´re 100% right, IMO only about 1 to 10% of the CGT customers´ll be able to use the CGT´s full potential...
as you probably know i´ve been out with a CGT on the Porsche Leipzig race track with chief engineer/test driver Roland Kussmaul for quite some laps and although i´m a very skilled driver due to my work here at Porsche any my hobbies, Roland told me that i had been far below the full potential of the car...

but that one good reason to buy a CGT, it´s challenging not soft boiled...
