Those Chinooks are pretty cool helicopters I see those on occasion around here aswell since the US Navy training base is located here (It's the only Navy boot camp) Every night at about midnight three blackhawks fly over my house but it's really hard to see them but I was lucky once and every once in a while they don't run silent so you can hear the engines roaring. And about a year ago there was a sonic boom that shuck the whole county when a couple of jets had to respond to an airliner that had some crazy guy on it that was awesome, it was soo damn loud, I was at my friends house and there were car alarms going off, it was all over the news.

Lets all stop and look and admire the front of this beauty for a moment.

Not much of a Military Aircraft person, but I see old ones all the time. About 2 miles from my house is a small airfield that has different arishows a few times a year. There is always all kinds of old military stuff flying around. My guess is most of the stuff is from WWI and II. What makes it cool is they flow low and they are loud as hell!
Then on the otherside of me ( about 5 miles opposite direction), is a National Gaurd base where there are all kinds of old military planes and some Helicopters. Once again, I couldn't tell you what they are, not a plane geek.
A friend and I always go boating down the Mississippi River and watch the planes take off and land. You are literally about 40 feet away watching the planes take off and land.

I am a pilot...but right now I am working on my private pilot's license...not quite up to flying those bad boys...However, on a recent cross country flight I flew to Shreveport, LA...which happens to be about 5 miles from one of the largest B-52 bases in America (Barksdale). We flew very close to the base, about 3 miles or so at 4500ft, and my instructor counted...40+ B-52s on the ramp (parking lot for airplanes) and another 5 in the 'nukes', the individual 'parking places' for the planes that are ready to go on short notice. In addition to the BUFF's (B-52s) there were another 15 or so A-10s on the ramp... In addition the base has an 11,900 ft long runway, which makes the 5000ft runway I usually fly off of look like a sidewalk, man that would be fun to drive a car out there!

I think George W. is a great President. He really pulled his country together after 911.

Ya, I have to agree with everyone. Those planes are awesome. I remember watching a World Series Baseball Game, and they had a B2 fly-by. All I can say is Wow. And that's from watching it on TV!

Even the RAF is better than our air force. I think Canada's fighter place arsenal consists of a dozen CF-18s (old F-18s). If someone in Canadian government way back when didn't scrap the Avro Arrow, then we might have an air force something like the americans. Oh well.
