Just drove 997 and 997S. Great handling, less understeer than 996. New manual gerbox is wery fast, has shorter travel. PSM recalibrated, now you can slidte the car more before it intervenes. Steering more direct, less turns lock to lock. 997S has a very aggresive sound. Tiptronic shifts are faster and firmer. Computer controled dampers great, big difference between normal and sport setting. Unfortunately I havent been able to drive 997 with the optional sports suspension ...

After seeing motorvision test I must say I like it more than 996, but I don't like the interior

I drove it at that event ... 997, 997S, 997S tiptronic.

Every manufacturer presents the new car to the press before actual release. These things usually lasta month or so, journos come in groups for 2 days, there's a press conference and technical presentation (usually all the designer and engineers are present, plus directors), the we drive the car for a couple hundred kms and discuss them with guys from the manufacturer, take some pics and so.
There are about 130 - 150 such events every year - that's the number of cars launched (new, restylings, new engines ...). But all in all you spend more time on planes than in the cars ...

...just a quick info about the CGT vs. Enzo vs. SLR issue...

HvS from SA confirmed that Ferrari won´t hand an Enzo over to them for testing it in their "Supertest" including NS lap time, due to the reasons we already know...
he also said that they´re now after an private customer who may lend SA his Enzo for the Supertest.....will be kinda difficult though...
