Default GB could finance Olympics with sofa-cushion change

That's a hell lot of money  . Come on JW's UK members, give your money and maybe JW can be a small sponsor

"About £1bn is lost or lying idle in the UK's 24.7 million households
Britons have enough small change around their homes to fund half of the London Olympic Games, according to a survey published today

An overwhelming 88% of the 1,500 people surveyed said at least £10 was lost in small change throughout their home.
A further 62% estimated they had at least £56 in jars, pots, pockets and down the back of sofas"

I have to say looking around my room i can believe these figures i always empty the small change out of my wallet and never do anything with it

I put mine in a big plastic Corona bottle (about 2.5ft tall)

Fuck knows what I am gonna do with it all - mostly 1c coins (hapennies lol) as I feed the Lockheed coffee machine of extortion with most of my silver coins.

Arrgh mateys silver coins!

The mention of silver coins made me feel all piratey I really should grow up

I kept my cents to give them to some beggars, but they've started to refuse them!
now I'm stuck with at least 50 pesos= 5 usd of coins, and the banks don't "have time to change"

I collect mine in a little jar and take them to my local bank. The machine there counts them up and gives me dollars in exchange(even better, unlike the ones at the grocery store, since I have an account there they dont take a percentage).

they began to choose when those coins started to be meaningless. We have 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents coins. A subway ticket costs 2 pesos, the cheapest bubblegum costs 1 peso. And no vending machine accepts those little coins.

Kinda like the cent in the US. The only reason for its' existence is sales tax.

As JC would say, His Tonyness is up to something

At least you can use the 1 cent in stamp machines (although 37 of them at a time is a bitch of a wait for the person behind you if you are after a few stamps lol)

Coffee / chocolate vending machines dont take them though

I put my pennies in baggies, and then stick them in my jacket pocket... that way when someone "doesnt" see me... I can let them know im there, by giving them a present.
