One of a few ....
Another one going on sale soon is a one owner 1963 Z06.... being put up for sale by the original owner.
http://z06vette.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89083
Those C2 mid-year cars are the ones that are the most sought after...
A number of the L88's have sold for $500, $600 and now $850,000 and still going... put's these cars in the "only a couple of people can buy them" category.
It will probably end up in the Roger's Corvette collection.
Stop by to view Roger's latest acquisitions!
1967 L-88 w/12 miles! 1966 427-425 BIG Tank!
Sorry, these Corvettes are NOT for sale.

It was a big tank option - . The car in question is one of the few '67 L88's that were built with the option.
In fact this endurance tank was an early prerequisite for the 1963 Z06 option...

so why dont they put 25-35 gallon tanks anymore?
i mean, wont that mean less traffic at gas stations?
and people dun have to hassle around with an empty tank all the time.

weight - fuel consumption.
A 16 gallon tank gives you a range of about 350 miles at freeway speeds.. why carry more weight than needed?

Lets review:
1963 through 1969 - 327ci, then 350ci then 427ci V8's. 4 speed transmissions and cheap hi-octane leaded gasoline..
Fuel consumption was the least of the worries during the racing and horsepower wars of old...
