Default BMW Z4M Roadster first drive

As I'm waiting to go on the plane hom, just a quickie: unfortunately it was raining here in Jerez, and this Z4M Roadster has quite short wheelbase so it's a bit tricky in rain ... Couldn't drift it properly until I switched off the sport button, then it was OK ... It's great on the road with DSC switched on, you can really go fast and fun but still safe.

A few pics, that's all that BMW photographer got of me (you can find them bigger, 1600 pix in my gallery) ...

After my 10 laps (not enough and this time they managed to stop me after 10 laps ) I got driven around the same circuit by a BMW instructor in an M5. It was whole lap (except straight) sideways, even the fastest and longest corners (150+ kph in rain). I know it's much easier to drift an M5 (I've driven and drifted it) but I was still impressed.

You should probably go to z4um.com and write up what you thought about the Z4M

So, can you tell us a bit more about the Z4M? The sound? The handling? Acceleration? 80-120, etc... etc...

Thanks for sharing! Maybe not the best to drive such a car for the first time on the wet, but at least it was a circuit and not open road
Was this the presentation of the roadster alone or also coupés were there?

Justbthe roadster ... And we were driving on open road too ... Which was not much fun as you cant put the roof down in rain. But wet road is no problem, I usually leave the DSC on on open road.

Wow! I'm assuming you're one of Komotor's journalist friends.. must be great to test drive sports cars both on and off the track, let alone cars that arent even out yet!

I wonder how the new M Coupe will compare to the roadster...

Yeah, but with a stronger chassis. But I wonder just how good BMW made the convertible..
