Sony is counting on about 1/3 of Japan's 3,000 cinemas taking on their ¥1.5 million ($12,651) per screen solution by 2010 with even higher hopes for the US market. They'll need lots of help since projection systems are just a tiny fraction of the total conversion costs required to move cinemas into the digital age.

It will be pretty cool to see digital projectors replace those [usually] shitty film projectors at the movie theater.

i know T.O. has a few cinemas with digital projectors...I saw eps III on both and I didn't really notice that big of a difference, except for maybe a few imperfections...

$12,651 sounds like more on the consumer pricing side. And as they said, the projector screen is only tiny fraction of the cimema upgrade. Audio processors and speakers will probably cost another huge chunk of money.

.. and the entire film community.

Kodak should have looked into the digital future decades ago though. I'm sure they saw the end coming.

But they didn't realize how big of an impact it would be on future business.

I didn't realize they were the ones to invent the digital camera. You would think since they did, they would still be on top or at least able to compete with today's photo and video world.

Do any of their digital patents still hold to the digital cameras today? Maybe they are getting cash from every digital camera sold.

I was scanning up the page to get to my last post, when all I saw was that Jabba had quoted himself. I thought all the spam was getting to him
