This question is impossible to answer. I'm a Depeche Mode fan and most of their work is from 80s so choosing one song is an impossible task to me.

best 80's song... thats a truly tough one
so many great songs came in the 80s, weather metallica, scorpions, iron maiden, yngwie malmsteen, ahem... cough halen, SRV, RL burnside... just to name a few. i couldnt pick a favorite.
what is the best new wave song? definately the safety dance. but that sucks too

I dont know what songs are from 80s ops: those are great for sure - Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody most of Jackson's songs(MJ), Money for nothing... and so on and so on...

Bohemian Rhapsody is from '75. Another One Bites The Dust is from '80, so that one will qualify. I like It's A Kind Of Magic a lot as well.
However, best song of the eighties, especially when you watch the video with it, is definately Born To Be Alive by Patrick Hernandez! LOL. j/k of course...
Good to see Dire Straits is mentioned. It's hard to choose between Telegraph Road, Brothers In Arms and Private Investigations, but I think I'll vote for the first.
