I plan on getting an Enermax EG-565AX-VE 535W PSU.
It has two seperate +12V rails with 18A on +12V1 and 18A on +12V2.

After the PSU I plan on a major upgrade for the entire PC. I want to know if 18A+18A will be enough to support a fully stocked high end system for the next few years. I read somewhere that 18A is more than enough for the CPU, but the other 18A rail is barely enough for the rest of the system.
Any advice would be appreciated.

That plenty, unless you want SLI I guess, but even then I think its ok.

Is it going to be a basic 2xoptical drive 2/1x HDD setup?

I have 2 optical and 2 HDDs. Whats the point of dual rails anyway, does it give compatibility for future CPUs ?

I'm not a gamer but i still want a PSU with much higher than miniumum standards.

If you aren't going to install two new graphic cards like geforce 7800 in SLI mode, you have more than enough with a 535W Enermax PSU.

I've got with a 460W Enermax PSU with 5 HDDs and 2 Optical drives.... in a "normal" PC.

so is 18A+18A enough for next generation CPU and motherboards ?
If I upgrade my CPU & MB next year for example, will this PSU be good enough by then ?

18A seems rather low for a power supply with such a high wattage rating, but it should be more than enough unless new components suck up a lot of juice. I'm too lazy to check myself, but does it have 20 or 24 pin power connector?
Just out of curiosity, why are you buying the psu now? If you're going to buy new parts for your comp a while from now, it would make more sense to buy the psu when you get the other parts.

It has two rails with 18A each. It says in the specs 20 pin main power + 4. SEE THIS

I'm buying the PSU now since I'll be too busy once university starts

. So i plan to upgrade bit by bit as I get the chance.

So what do you think

Considering all it's features, and the fact that it's enermax, I'd say its a pretty damn good deal. Although it may be kinda difficult to hide all the cables, if you care.
