Rob's Automotive Drawings
Hey guys,
Didn't know where to put this so, here it is.
Took 6 hours in total to finish - 2.5 hour line sketch and 3.5 hours shading and details. My best car drawing. Please tell me what you think!
Cheers, Rob.

Very nice, but a bit too dark, no? This way you don't see the details very well. Maybe live it looks better.
Nice job!

Cheers guys, keep the comments coming!

Looks like a laser printer
Definitely got some skills, but you should find a better scanner for your work.

Nice drawing mate! But is it me or is the left front wheel a bit big?
PS I'm a noob when it comes to the old Miura, don't really like that car

^ Again, I don't know that much about the Miura
*edit: Now I see what 'bothered' me, the tire seems to be bigger, not the entire wheel. If you compare the thickness of the rear tire to the front tire, it really seems a lot thicker, IMO. Could be the perspective I guess.

Looks pretty good, but as stated before it would be nice to see a lighter, scanned version. You gotta work with what you got though.
Question, is this a tracing of photo or all freehand?

Very nice rendering, Rob!
I can't tell from your photograph entirely what you have and have not done - but I'll throw out some simple trade advice on how get more contrast out of your artwork - from one illustrator to another.
I can't really tell if you've toned your paper or not - if you haven't, I'll share my method 8) Setting your mid-tone FIRST on your paper makes a big difference a lot of times!
Try doing really bright highlights with a white wax pencil - if you make a mark you don't want, you can't erase it, but I've found glass highlights done with a wax pencil turn out much better for me.
And like I said - I'm not really positive what you've done and not done in your work so let me know if what I'm saying sounds useful to you and I'll say more about it.

Hey acm,
Yeah, thanks for your advice! Pretty helpful actually.
I have a very unorthodox technique; i draw theline sketch / reflection lines, then do a single-tone layer of pencil (smudged on evenly - with finger), then do highlights using pencil and lowlights with a rubber. Strange i know, but it has proven effective .
Cheers again, Rob.
PS - Is there any chance i could get the topic title changed to ' Rob's Automotive Drawings' , please? ops: sorry, its just i have another drawing to share and think it unnecessary to create anothre thread.......

If I recall correctly the topic starter (i.e. you) can change the title of the thread. Mods also can of course, but that shouldn't be necessary.
