I say lets just do it and if they don't acceptt I will go to Guildford personally, to the studio with the recordings and give it to him

I just came back from work, read all the topics. I can respect LotusGt his opinion, I really can. As the Idea for the Charger instead of a Dragster I think that is a better idea indeed.

I just phoned leeds infirmary again and they couldn't tell me , Other guy I spoke to then last night, so unfortunate I have no further update on the hospitals policy.

I was thinking the same thing that Lotus was mentioning too. Usually, when these things happen to celebrities, the massive out-giving from fans can be a tremendous strain on the hospital as well as family members; seems that the gifts have already been flowing in . I just read this on Top Gear's site; how about sending him a nice card and donating money to this Air Ambulance Service that only accepts money from charities?

Richard: air ambulance appeal
Fans of Richard Hammond have set up a website to allow fellow well-wishers to donate to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity.

The air ambulance service, which airlifted Richard to the Leeds General Infirmary soon after his accident on Wednesday, relies solely on charitable donations to keep up its good work.

The 'Get Well Soon Hamster' appeal has already raised more than £36,000, and the donations are rolling in by the second.

To add your donation, visit the Richard Hammond appeal page.

Seriously, those numbers are BS guesses. I don't care if you want to send something, all the best to you and a nice gesture, but at least try to be a bit realistic.

 Well this certainly changes a couple of things !

Leeds Infirmary just phoned me back and said that a card and something small wouldn't be a problem. But not too many things the man said on the phone as he already is getting loads of stuff.

One of my suggestions as this update has just been given to me is to Send a card to him and give the money raised for Hammond to a charity. This was also suggested by Hammonds wife herself! One charity mentioned is the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity http://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond?page=1 .

So guys, what now??

We should respect it if they don't want any further presents. And I have now a even worse feeling that if we were to hand over the things at the Desk that they will be chucked away! It was a good idea, really from the heart of us all

Whilst donating to the air ambulance service is a great idea if that's what he and his family want, it would also be nice to send a card to him directly from us.

whatever realistic would mean not to try cause its too complicated

as for charity thats nice but I will not send them nothing casue I have no idea who they are and if those money will ever get where they suppose to get etc etc.

was nice idea and a nice way to fuck it up.

OK lets get back on topic, it would seem the best and most practical idea is to send a card and either make donations to Hammonds chosen charity, or put all the donations together and make one big donation in the name of the site.
